FMS Weekly Update 3.30.25
February 23, 2025
Week of March 30, 2025
From the Desk of Our Proud Principal
Good evening, Trojan Families!
This is a message from your proud principal, Mrs. Kinard, and the school leaders at Ferndale Middle School. We strongly encourage you to access the digital version of this announcement, available on our school website and social media. It contains additional important information that you and your students need to know.
This is a friendly reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday due to a Teacher Workday. We hope our students enjoy the long weekend and take a moment to recharge.
When students return on Tuesday, they will begin the Fourth Nine Weeks—the final stretch of the school year! This is a critical time as we gear up for end-of-year testing (EOGs) and focus on finishing strong.
Here are a few tips to help your student have a successful final nine weeks:
-
Set a consistent routine. Make sure your child is getting enough rest, eating breakfast, and arriving to school on time every day.
-
Check PowerSchool regularly. Stay informed about grades, missing assignments, and teacher feedback.
-
Encourage consistent study habits. Even 20–30 minutes of review at home each evening can make a big difference.
-
Communicate with teachers. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns—we’re here to support your child’s success!
-
Stay positive and motivated. Celebrate progress and remind your student that their hard work is paying off.
Let’s finish the year strong, together! 💪

GCS Immigration Response
Every family should know that every child in Guilford County has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. The Guilford County Schools does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). GCS does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to GCS facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources.
