The canned food drive competition between our campus and TWHS will continue now through next Tuesday, Nov. 18. The Montgomery County Food Bank is in need of money to purchase food items needed for those in need in our community. Each $1 donated will purchase 5 cans of food. Donations are being taken through school cash online. A check will be presented from each campus to the Montgomery County Food Bank on Thursday, November 20. At that time, the school with the largest check to present will win the "Kevin the Can Trophy" for the year! Let's show our CP pride and spirit and give to this important cause. It's also a competition between 5th period advisories! Students will be required to put the name of their 5th teacher when they make a donation. See prizes listed below.

Thank you for your support for this very important cause at this special time of year giving thanks for all we have. Let's help those less fortunate have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Wednesday the team competed in their first-ever Field Competition and earned a Division I rating. They worked incredibly hard and even learned new parts that morning due to a few unexpected injuries. Despite a surprise mix-up when the music technician accidentally played The Woodlands’ music, not once but twice! They stayed focused and delivered an outstanding performance.

Attached is a copy of their performance video.

Please help me congratulate the girls on an amazing showing at their very first field competition!

Orchestra - ALL STATE MUSICIANS Orchestra - ALL STATE MUSICIANS

Over the weekend, College Park Orchestra students participated in the TMEA All-State Orchestra Auditions, one of the most competitive and prestigious music events in Texas. We are proud to announce that two students earned a place in the TMEA All-State Orchestras:

🎻 Serene Huang (9th Grade, Violin)
🎻 Benjamin Zhou (10th Grade, Violin) – 2nd-Year All-State Musician

The All-State process, organized by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), is a rigorous, multi-level audition series that begins in the fall. Students prepare challenging etudes and progress through Region and Area rounds before earning the honor of performing in an All-State ensemble at the annual TMEA Convention in San Antonio.

Selection to an All-State ensemble represents the highest individual achievement for a high school musician in Texas—an honor awarded to only the top 2% of student musicians statewide.

We congratulate Serene and Benjamin on this outstanding accomplishment and thank their private teachers, families, and the College Park Orchestra community for their support and encouragement.

How to write a Teacher Achieving Excellence Nomination How to write a Teacher Achieving Excellence Nomination

  1. Log in to your account. Navigate to the Conroe ISD Single Sign-On (SSO) page at https://sso.conroeisd.net/ and log in using your parent credentials.
  2. Access the Parent Access portal. Once logged in, click on "Parent Access".
  3. Find the nomination form. Select "Communication" from the menu and then click on "Teachers/Staff Excellence".
  4. Select the staff member. You will be able to search for and select the specific teacher you want to recognize. If you have multiple children, be sure to select the correct student to find the right staff member for that school.
  5. Write your comments. You can select positive qualities that apply to the teacher and add a personal message in the comments section. To make your nomination most effective, focus on specific examples of their exceptional work.
    • Share specific examples. Instead of general praise, describe a particular situation where the teacher went above and beyond. Mention a project that engaged your child, a time they offered extra support, or how they fostered a positive classroom environment.
    • Describe the impact. Explain how the teacher's actions benefited your child's learning or well-being. For example, "Mrs. Smith helped my daughter feel more confident about reading by letting her choose books from the classroom library."
    • Keep it personal and concise. A heartfelt, specific nomination is more memorable than a long, generic one.

What to highlight in your writing

  • Positive impact: How they inspired your child's love for a subject.
  • Going above and beyond: When they offered extra help or stayed late to support a student.
  • Building a relationship: How they connected with your child on a personal level.
  • Communication: If they kept you well-informed and were responsive to your concerns.
  • Classroom environment: How they created a positive, supportive, and safe learning space for all students.

Hello Cavaliers!

Please scroll down to BOLD RED TOPICS to find what you need!

Education for Tomorrow Alliance CAREER CONNECTIONS is a monthly program which allows students in grades 10-11 to explore careers and gain insights from area professionals for future planning. Once monthly sessions will be held during 5th period (January-April), providing students the opportunity to meet community business professionals and explore topics ranging from finding a career passion to job forecasting. Students who sign up first have the best chance of participating if they meet academic, attendance and behavior requirements. Completing this form does not guarantee a spot in the program, but it is definitely the first step. Please see attached flyer for more information. This particular opportunity is open to sophomores & juniors only.

Are you interested in applying to a MILITARY ACADEMY? If so, you are invited to contact West Point Cadet Macoy Noack, a graduate of The Woodlands High School. Cadet Noack will be home from school over Thanksgiving break and welcomes you to meet with him at the Brady Library to learn about applying to and attending a United States military academy. If you are interested in talking with him, email me today at mflorian@conroeisd.net, and I will share Cadet Noack’s contact information with you to arrange a visit. Please think about this opportunity if you are considering attending a military academy.

The PATH Club will be hosting Shane Greenstein November 17, 2:45-3:30PM. Dr. Greenstein is a business professor at Harvard with a PhD in Economics from Stanford. He will be talking about his teaching experience at Harvard, his experiences as a Stanford student, and sharing some key advice to help students succeed in life. Please note this is a special event and space is limited! Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Sign up through the following link: https://forms.gle/wDuTNKusZdQCbAAT8

CPHS wants All Cavaliers to Achieve. A large part of student success is related to student attendance. We want to teach our Cavs all we can in the days that we have with them. Please encourage your student to attend every period to gain the knowledge they need to be successful. In the event your child does miss school, please be sure to email our attendance office or see the new Student Absence Reporting App information below. Also, please remind your child to get with their teacher about any work they missed. We would also like to remind you that your child will be at risk of losing credit and parents/guardians may have to go to court due to attendance.

Cavalier Compass is a weekly video from our school counseling team, shared with all students during their Wednesday advisory. Its purpose is to provide resources, encouragement, and real-life skills that support students both in and out of the classroom. Topics range from study habits and course planning to mental health awareness, healthy lifestyles, and digital citizenship. Our goal is to connect with students in a fun, positive way while giving them tools to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

If you have any questions about Cavalier Compass, please reach out to our lead counselor, Kasey Lucas (kllucas@conroeisd.net).
