Greetings SMS Families,

As we step into 2026, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a joyful, healthy, and fulfilling year ahead. I hope your winter break was restful and offered plenty of meaningful time with family and friends. A new year can bring both excitement and fresh challenges, but please remember that our entire SMS community is here to support you. If you or your student needs anything, Student Services remains ready to help.

Looking back at the first semester, we are incredibly proud of the growth, hard work, and resilience shown by our students and staff. Their accomplishments continue to inspire us, and we are excited for all that lies ahead in the coming months. As we approach the semester’s end on January 23, please keep an eye out for your student’s report card, which will be available shortly before our February break.

I also want to remind families that we offer after-school academic support every Tuesday and Thursday. These sessions provide valuable opportunities for students to receive additional help, whether they’re working through a challenging topic or simply seeking extra practice.

As we continue through the year, let’s stay grounded in our shared commitment to each student’s success and well-being. Thank you for your ongoing partnership. Together, we can make 2026 an outstanding year for all of our students!

Respectfully,

Dr. Fisher

Following a previous class meeting circle, two of Mrs. Ricci's seventh-grade students, Ava Wallum and Kylie Emerling, took the initiative to create a bulletin board. They wanted the bulletin board to include every seventh grader, so they made snowflakes with every student's name!

Spirit Club Spirit Club

The first couple meetings of SMS's new Spirit Club are underway. Spirit Club is a new activity for students at SMS to attend Fridays during 12th period to decorate and make seasonal crafts. Students have made snowflakes out of paper bags to hang around the school and ornaments for teachers so far. Mrs. R. Benz is excited to see the creativity and enthusiasm the students are bringing to Spirit Club and looking forward to sharing more of their projects as the year continues!

Winner's Art Added to Bags

The final step in the Youth Voices, Holiday Choices initiative was recently completed by student and staff volunteers. The winning designs to deter driving under the influence were made into stickers and stuck to paper bags that will be used at Cheap Chollies Wine and Liquor in conjunction with National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. The initiative, which was led by SADD and Above the Influence, resulted in compelling anti-DWI designs that were assessed by a judging panel of community leaders.
