Strong Attendance, Strong Futures: Every Day Counts! Strong Attendance, Strong Futures: Every Day Counts!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we partner together to support your child’s learning and growth, we want to highlight one of the single most important factors in elementary school success: consistent daily attendance.

Why Attendance Matters in Elementary School

In elementary school, every day builds foundational skills in reading, math, and problem-solving. Beyond academics, attending school daily helps children:

  • Build Strong Habits: Developing routines early sets students up for lifelong success.

  • Develop Social Connections: Being present helps children nurture friendships, build teamwork skills, and feel a strong sense of community in their classroom.

  • Stay on Track: Missing even two days a month adds up quickly, making it harder for students to keep up with essential learning milestones.

Our School Goal for Attendance

This year, our school has set a specific community goal: We aim to end the school year with fewer than 10% of our students missing 18 or more school days (which is defined as habitual absence or chronic absenteeism).

While we understand that illnesses and emergencies happen, missing 18 days over the course of a school year means losing 10% of classroom instructional time. By working together, we can ensure that every child gets the full benefit of their school experience.

Please note: If your child does miss school, they are required to makeup all missing work or the absence will be switched to unexcused.

How You Can Help

  • Establish Routines: Set consistent bedtime and morning routines to help mornings run smoothly.

  • Plan Ahead: Whenever possible, schedule doctor appointments or family travel outside of school hours or during school breaks.

  • Communicate: If your child needs to miss school due to illness or an emergency, please notify the main office as soon as possible.

  • Reach Out: If your child is struggling with school anxiety or health issues, please contact us! We are here to support your family and partner on solutions.

Thank you for your dedication to your child’s education and for helping us create a supportive, thriving learning environment. Together, we can make this a fantastic school year!
