December Middle School Update - Merry Christmas
As we move into the month of December, our school is filled with excitement, reflection, and the spirit of the season. With winter activities, classroom celebrations, and the anticipation of the holidays, this is a special time for our students and staff to pause and appreciate the incredible community that makes Windom Area Middle School such a positive place to learn and grow.
December is always a busy and joyful month! Students will continue focusing on strong learning routines while also enjoying seasonal activities that celebrate creativity, kindness, and connection. We encourage families to help students stay focused during this exciting time by maintaining strong attendance, consistent routines, and a good nightโs rest.
As we approach Christmas and winter break, we want to extend heartfelt gratitude to our families for your ongoing support, partnership, and trust throughout the first part of the school year. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in the success of our students and the strength of our Eagle community.
From all of us at Windom Area Middle School, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, a relaxing holiday season, and a safe start to the New Year. Thank you for helping our Eagles soar every day!

High School Principal's Message
The month of December looks pretty free on the school front, but there is much to come together for and much to celebrate. Our winter season is in full swing with contests just about every night of the week. There is always an opportunity to come out and support the Eagles!
I do want to take a moment to discuss student regulation, and dysregulation. It is important that students are ready for school everyday. Our teachers make great efforts to design enriching and engaging lessons. Students who come to school without adequate rest, or students who are spending too much time addicted to phones or gaming often times cause disruptions to learning that greatly impair our ability to provide a meaningful and thoughtful well-rounded education for all students. Please speak to your student and encourage responsible phone usage, a healthy bed time (yes, even you teens need a healthy bed time) healthy habits of study and a spirit of growth minded learning. We do our best to make sure the social/emotional needs of students are met, but our number one job is to prepare students with knowledge and skills needed to be productive and engaged 21st century citizens who find purpose filled employment. We greatly appreciate all efforts to partner in the regulation of your student as they enter the building everyday ready to learn. Remember - just because something is on TikTok doesn't make it a good thing to try, in school or other...
The holidays are filled with such joy and I want to close by thanking all parents for the amazing students we are blessed to call Windom Eagles. By and large, our students are well-rounded and work so hard to push themselves to grow as learners everyday. Stepping into our building, I am so impressed everyday by the high quality teaching by our teachers, the support given by our para educators, the safe environment provided by our custodial staff, the amazing technology support by our tech department, the scrumptious meals provided by food service, the safe trips provided by our bus drivers, the help provided by our admin professionals and students support staff and the countless others who partner to work with students in their educational pursuits. Windom Schools is special, and as you enjoy this festive holiday season, take time to enjoy the uniqueness that is each young person in our community, for they truly are a gift for all of us to pour good into.
Have a blessed holiday season, Merry Christmas!

Ineligibility
You may notice a "Probationary Ineligibility List" event in the calendar above. The probationary list is populated once a quarter and helps us identify students in need of support. While the grade on the probationary list may be an F, it does not mean a student is ineligible for extra curriculars. It does mean students should seek support by attending Eagle Elevation and speaking with teachers to get help after/before school. Our goal is to avoid failures causing students to miss contests when future lists are pulled. If you have any questions on ineligibility, please contact the office, or Bryan/Dane - contact info. is below.
Eagle Elevation
We don't always get things right the first time, and often times we have to ask for help. Our students have the opportunity for help outside of school hours everyday at Windom Schools. Every one of our teachers makes time to meet with students before/after school and we offer Eagle Elevation hour M, Tu, Th & F 3:30-4:15 as well as Study Table every W. Please encourage your student to reach out for help when needed and if not currently getting the results they hope for, speak to a teacher or any other staff member about looking at the current approach. Let's celebrate process over product and the efforts to grow that will lead to future success for students.
Attendance
Hey, Hey, Hey! Chronic Absenteeism (missing more than 10% of school days) is down over 3% this year! Thank you to parents and students for valuing being present in school! Reminder - if your student will be absent, please let our office know by calling 507-831-6910 or by emailing attendancemshs@isd177.com. We now have an office cell phone that you can text/call - the number for the office cell is 507-221-3511. All absences require a notice within 48 hours, at that point the absence becomes unexcused.
