CGS Weekly Message for 26-27
9/8/2026-9/11/2026
General School Updates
Good afternoon,
Happy Sunday!
We hope that everyone had an enjoyable Academic Break last week! We can't wait to see everyone back to school on Tuesday, September 8th!
2025-2026 NC School Report Card:
We are so excited to announce that our school made fantastic growth on our EOG/EOC standardized testing for the 25-26 school year!! We are so proud of our Grizzlies and of how incredibly HARD they worked last school year to make growth. We increased our School Performance Grade from a 58 in the 24-25 school year to a 66 this past 25-26 school year! This increased by 8 points from the school year prior! Our Growth Score was PHENOMENAL! Our students scored 80.6 in growth compared to the school year prior putting CGS up by an increase in growth of 21.9 points! WAY TO GO GRIZZLIES!!! It is evident that our students took our standardized testing seriously, tried their very best, and worked incredibly hard last school year to master content taught by our teachers. ππ
We are currently a Grade C but are very close to getting back to our Grade B status we had historically prior to our major school expansion in the 23-24 school year. We can do it!! ππ We are on the uphill climb now, so hang on Grizzlies and keep working hard each and every day! Keep coming to school each and every day with an attitude willing to learn and grow!
Shout out to our AMAZING teachers and staff at CGS who ALWAYS put our students first and prioritize their learning. Parents, thank you for your continued support and partnership! We still have room to grow but we are very PROUD of our Grizzlies and of their progress!! π»π
Click on the DPI website found HERE to learn more about our school testing and performance information.
REMINDER: ATTENDANCE is VITAL for Charter Schools the first 2 months of school! PLEASE make sure that your student is on time and on campus each and every day. A student is marked ABSENT if they leave school prior to 12 PM daily. Please make sure that your student is at school by 10:30 AM or stays until 12 PM daily if they have to leave early or arrive late. Please make appointments outside of the school day as much as possible or on our breaks/half days. Please send in notes to excuse their absence if they are sick, have appointments, etc. Thank you so much!

CGS Teacher of the Week Shout Out - Mrs. Bellamy
This week, we'd like to take a moment to shout out our Teacher of the Week - Mrs. Bellamy! Mrs. Bellamy is our Middle School and Elementary Art Teacher at CGS! She also coaches our Color Guard in our Band Program as well! Mrs. Bellamy jumps in wherever the need arises which means taking pictures or photos of events, being an advocate and listening ear for our students, or running our Yearbook Program as our Yearbook Advisor! Mrs. Bellamy has brought a love of learning through artwork for our Grizzlies and you can often hear our youngest Grizzlies giggling with excitement at new projects or activities they've done in her classroom! Thank you Mrs. Bellamy for your support of our kiddos both inside and outside of the classroom!!
Please take a moment to shout her out when you see her!

NCVPS Courses
NCVPS courses do not take CGS academic breaks. Please continue to stay on track with your assignments. Students enrolled in NCVPS courses must communicate with their instructor if they have questions.
Drivers Education Classes/Driver Eligibility Forms Update
If your student is at least 14 Β½ years old, they may register to take Driver Education Classes. Classes are held through Alamance Burlington School System or other local school districts or are offered through private driving companies. Once students have completed both the classroom piece and the driving portion, they can apply for a Learnerβs Permit at the DMV when they turn 15 years old. Students must bring a Driving Eligibility Certificate when they apply for the Learnerβs Permit. ABSS is currently working on scheduling classes to begin later in the fall. Once additional information is provided, it will be shared in the weekly message.
Please email the school level Principal or Assistant Principal to have a document drafted and set up a time to meet for completion. This document requires a parent/guardian to come to the school for completion and is good for 30 days. Please allow 72 hours from the time you request the certificate in the front office to when you pick it up, as we need to confirm that the student is in good standing and has the certificate signed by the Principal/designee. Students must make adequate academic progress (passing at least 70% of the maximum possible courses each semester and meeting promotion standards established by the School).

SENIORS--IT IS TIME TO GET READY TO APPLY TO COLLEGE!!!
CommonApp opened August 1st for 2026-2027. Be sure to create an account with your personal email address. Dr. Morris serves as the counselor for college applications.
College Application Week is the week when many North Carolina colleges and institutions waive their application fees for students applying to college on CFNC.org.This event is part of NC Countdown to College (C2C), a year-long initiative where we encourage students to complete the following three steps in college enrollment: residency, financial aid, and college applications.
So, check out the list now and start getting your students prepared for October!
NC College Connect directly admits North Carolina public high school seniors to select UNC System universities, North Carolina independent colleges and universities, and their local North Carolina community college where they already meet admissions requirements. Itβs that simple!
If your student would like more information, CFNC is offering an online webinar to answer questions. Here is the link to register for the webinar on September 17th at 6pm.
Students with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or above who meet NC College Connect requirements will be eligible for direct admission at a select list of participating colleges and universities.
If a student doesnβt meet the 2.8 GPA threshold, they will receive direct admission to their local community college.
How does it work? On September 15th, students can log in to their CFNC student account to see if theyβre eligible. All eligible students will also receive a formal letter in the mail in late September. On the NC College Connect portal at CFNC.org, applicants will see a complete list of colleges and universities to which they have been admitted. They will then have the option to complete the NC College Connect form to accept the admission offer at the institution of their choice. Then, colleges will reach out with next steps on enrollment, financial aid, and more.
Check out the full list of participating schools at NCCollegeConnect.org.

The Clover Garden Marching Band Program is looking for sponsors, and we need your help!
It takes a tremendous amount of time, effort, and financial support to make our marching band program successful each year while providing new and exciting opportunities for our students. We are not only investing in this seasonβwe are planning for the future.
One of our long-term goals is to begin preparing for new band uniforms, which will likely be needed within the next five years. While some of our current students and volunteers may no longer be part of the program by then, we want to ensure the band continues to grow and thrive for future generations of students.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. Sponsorships begin at just $25, and all donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for supporting the Clover Garden Marching Band!
You can email the band boosters at cgsbandboosters@gmail.com
