Harding & LEAP Visit Regions Hospital

Regions Hospital recently hosted Harding and LEAP students for hands-on learning. Students met with the amazing staff at Regions who shared their personal stories about what led them to careers as surgical technicians, nurses, nurse educators, Operating Room (OR) managers, and administrative professionals. Next, they reviewed important vocabulary and finally students had time for hand-ons learning through stations that focused on how to properly gown and glove before entering the OR, how to intubate manikins requiring oxygen, and how to identify and use surgical tools and equipment.

Food Systems Class Update

Food Systems students explored the parts of the beef industry, nutritional information and various ways of raising and producing beef in the United States. They then conducted observations, cooking techniques and assessed flavor profiles of grass finished and conventionally raised beef. Learning about where food comes from, how it is produced and the impacts and benefits of various production methods is the core of our learning and exploring in this course! We are getting ready to travel to farms and a food production facility in the spring, as well as a field trip to the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Orchestra and Choir

Congratulations to the Harding Orchestra and Choir students who had a fantastic, combined concert on Tuesday, March 4! For this year’s Mid-Winter Concert, entitled “From Traditions To Legacies: Building Bridges Through Music”, the choirs and orchestra explored our connections with past and future generations. Students reflected on the traditions they share with family and friends, the values passed down by elders, the significant memories that have shaped their identities, and the legacies they hope to create for those who will come after them.

Upcoming Music Department Concerts Include:

  • Tuesday, April 27 - Spring Band & Orchestra Concert @7:00pm in the Harding Auditorium
  • Tuesday, May 20 - Spring Choir concert @7:00pm in the Harding Auditorium
Be sure to check out a concert before you miss them all!

AVID Field Trip

AVID Juniors & Seniors Explore St. John’s and St. Ben’s!

Our AVID students had an incredible day visiting St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict! This trip wasn’t just informative—it was fun!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such kindness and hospitality—and, of course, some awesome beanies to keep us warm on such an ice cold February day! The students had the chance to explore both campuses, learning about the wide range of academic programs, student life opportunities, and the unique benefits of attending a private university.

One of the best parts of the day was hearing from current students. They shared their journeys, tips for navigating college life, and advice on how to make the most of the college experience. It was great to watch the students connect with these stories.

Of course, no college visit is complete without a meal in the dining hall, and let me tell you—the food did not disappoint! It was delicious, and it gave everyone a real taste of what daily campus life is like.

This visit opened eyes to possibilities and helped students better understand what makes St. John’s and St. Ben’s such special places. The day was filled with learning, laughter, and inspiration as we continue preparing for life after high school.

Be sure to check out some of the photos from our visit!

Hi! My name is Emily Yang and I am the Harding girls' golf coach. This is my 20th year teaching social studies at Harding and this will be my second year coaching golf. I have golfed recreationally my entire life-all four of my grandparents played regularly and now I love to be able to play with my kids AND my parents! My husband and I have two boys who are involved in lots of activities so that definitely keeps us busy; their current favorites are flag football, wrestling, nordic skiing and tennis. I am primarily a nordic skier, but have loved playing more golf recently. I am a huge proponent of lifetime sports! I have really enjoyed the time I have been able to spend with the Harding golfers. I look forward to helping our returning players continue to improve their game while introducing golf to new players!
