The Dawg Dispatch
August 7th, 2025

January 23, 2026
The Dawg Dispatch is our weekly snapshot of life as a Bulldawg, straight facts, clear wins, and what’s next, so families and staff can pull in the same direction. It reflects our mission:
“The mission of the Aberdeen School District is to inspire ALL students to become problem-solvers, lifelong learners, and productive members of society.”
Superintendent’s A-Team Recognition (All A's)
Dr. Smith honored scholars at Aberdeen High School, Belle-Shivers, and Aberdeen Elementary School who earned placement on the Superintendent’s List (All A’s) during the second nine weeks.
Congratulations to these outstanding scholars. We are extremely proud of your hard work, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
Student Recognition
Congratulations to our scholars who earned placement on the Principal’s List, Superintendent’s List, and achieved Perfect Attendance. Your dedication, consistency, and commitment to excellence do not go unnoticed.
We are proud of your hard work and the example you set for others.
Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council
Dr. Smith hosted the first Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council for 2026, bringing teachers together to share their insights, needs, and ideas. The discussion focused on how we can continue strengthening our district and growing our school community.
We value our teachers’ voices and appreciate their commitment to moving Aberdeen forward.
Math in Music Class
In Music, students explored how treble clef notes work together.
Students “planted” notes on the musical staff and learned how whole, half, and quarter notes compare — using fractions to show how much time each note gets.
Through today’s lesson, scholars practiced:
Reading treble clef notes
Creating musical “gardens” of sound
Using fractions to represent rhythm (¼, ½, 1)
Blending creativity with academic skills
Our students stayed engaged and had fun connecting music, math, and imagination — growing their knowledge one note at a time!
Great job, Music Bulldogs!
🎉 Congratulations, Aberdeen Elementary! 🎉
Our students read an impressive 501,126 this week! 📚🐾
That kind of dedication shows exactly what happens when hard work and #BulldawgPride come together.
Keep turning those pages, scholars, you’re building habits that last a lifetime. 💙
Significant ice accumulation is likely for parts of North Mississippi.
According to Matt laubhan of MS Live Weather:
"Ice totals will likely exceed an inch in parts of the “peak impact“ area.
Significant travel disruptions are likely, as are power disruptions.
Our thinking remains the same: this is the exact same map (other than the timestamp at the top and bottom) that we posted yesterday. We’re trying to give you as much time as possible to prepare, but impacts begin late tonight (Friday night) and continue through the weekend.

Aberdeen School District is actively monitoring weather conditions throughout the weekend.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the week closely. If any significant changes could impact our school day, families will be promptly notified via text, email, and social media.Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we stay prepared. Stay warm, stay inside, and stay safe.

🤍 Week 3: Sustain Yourself for the Long Haul (Attendance & Burnout)
Consistency is key—for both students and staff. Simple practices like setting boundaries, taking short breaks, and disconnecting after work hours help maintain emotional balance and sustain attendance throughout the semester.
Connection: Self-care supports long-term attendance and job satisfaction.
🎓 Wednesdays Are for College Pride!
Every Wednesday, we encourage students and staff to wear college shirts! Why? Because seeing those college names and logos reminds our students that higher education is possible for them, whether it’s a school close to home or one across the country. It’s a simple way to spark conversations, plant dreams, and keep students motivated toward their future goals. Let’s show them that the road to college starts right here in Bulldawg Country!
💙🐾 Give a Bulldawg a Compliment! 🐾💙
