A Note from Mrs. Skappel A Note from Mrs. Skappel

Greenwood Families,

What a beautiful fall week we've had! Warm weather and vibrant colors galore! Tomorrow is our leaf rake and we are super excited! If you are able to drop off a rake or two we would so appreciate it! Please drop them off outside the main entrance in the morning. Rakes will be left outside the main entrance to be picked up. You can pick them up any time after 3:50 tomorrow.

Just a quick reminder that we do not wear costumes to school for Halloween here at Greenwood. Our classrooms will be having plenty of fall fun on Friday with fall themed activities and classroom parties.

News from the Art Room

* Our first batch of artworks is uploaded in Artsonia, which means you can view your child's artwork if you are connected! When parents opt to connect to student art portfolios, their students' artwork can appear (with your permission) in our school's public gallery. Connected parents can post and review visitor comments and add other family members to the student's Fan Club. Parents and fans receive an email notification when new artwork is posted and can make gift shop purchases that will help raise funds for the art room! 20% of every purchase is donated back to the art program for us to buy fun additional materials like washi tape, metallic markers, stencils, how-to-draw books and more!

Volunteer at Greenwood!

To help us keep our schools safe and match you with the best opportunities, please take a few minutes to update your volunteer status for the 2026-27 school year:

  • Submit the application Fill out the 2026-27 SDRF Volunteer Application here.

All volunteers must submit a new application every school year.

  • Review the guidelines

Please take a look at our Field Trip Chaperone Guidelines and Volunteer Guidelines so you know what to expect.

  • Background Check Standards

To ensure the safety of all, the SDRF requires a background check every four years. Background check standards can be found here. Once your volunteer application has been submitted I will let you know if you need a background check or not.

Looking for snack donations!

Here at Greenwood we have a snack station in Mrs. Dreyer's office where students can grab a snack if they forgot one from home or if they're unable to bring snacks from home. Our snack stash is currently running quite low, and we'd gladly welcome any donations! If you're interested in helping out, any donations can be dropped off in the office. Thanks for any help with this!
