Grade 3 and 4 MCAS

MCAS for our third and fourth grade students is this week.

Grade 4 students will take the ELA test on Monday and Tuesday and Grade 3 will test on Wednesday and Thursday.

We have stressed at school that this is an opportunity for them to show everyone what they know. They are prepared and have worked hard all year learning. The test may be hard for some, but all we ask is that they do their best and work hard. Attitude and effort are half the battle!

As a reminder, students should get a good night's sleep, have a good breakfast and come to school on time. All these efforts will help students have a calm and stress-free start to their day. When they come home, mirror our message of best effort and attitude!

They are rockstars, and I am so proud of each and every one of them. I look forward to seeing them shine!

No School - FRIDAY

As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL this Friday, April 7th.

Report Cards

Report cards will be available for viewing until Friday, April 7th. 65% of our report cards have been viewed. We would love to see that number higher.

If you have not had a chance to review your child's report card, please do so by Friday.

Accessing the report cards:

Please reach out to your child's teacher if you need additional support.

March Madness - Results

We have had a lot of fun competing over the past few weeks. Classes have set goals and met them, worked with other classes, completed STEAM challenges and so much more. The final tallies are being added and the winning class will be announced soon!

ST Math

As a school we have reached an average of 97% completion! NINETY - SEVEN! What's more impressive is the individual successes. Stay tuned for a CELEBRATION when we hit 100%!

In addition to the school percentage, individual classes and students are working on their own goals. Research shows that students who complete at least 65% of their journey will see the greatest impact in the mathematical thinking.

We are looking to make sure that ALL students are moving along in their journey and progressing in their mathematics. Doing so will set a strong mathematical foundation for students to be successful.

Attendance

Increasing attendance continues to be an important focus of ours. We set a goal of 96% attendance rates for each class when we started the March challenge. The first week, only two classes met that goal. Last week, we had 13 classes with at least 96% in attendance. This is amazing.

Attendance directly relates to student achievement. Thank you for all you are doing to make sure your kids are here and ready to learn!

District Chorus Concert

Once again, Mr. Clavette and the 4th grade chorus had a GLORIOUS performance at the district wide concert. Our students performed with excitement and sounded beautiful. They ended with an engaging rendition of "Surfing USA."

Clothing Giveaway - April 6th

Free clothing giveaway is happening again on April 6th at Willett Elementary (4:00-6:00). Please see the flyer below for more details.

Calling New Kindergarten Students

Do you know a student who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2023?

Kindergarten Registration for the 2023-2024 school year is open now! Registration must be completed by May 1, 2023, in order to guarantee placement in your neighborhood school.

Visit the APS Registration page for more information. ELC students should not complete the online registration process. As a member of the ELC, your child is already enrolled in Attleboro Public Schools. The ELC to Kindergarten Packet contains information regarding the process to transition your child to Kindergarten.

ST Math Banner Contest - FINAL CHANCE

As a part of the Massachusetts One8 Program, your school has been working hard to meet your yearly goal of 80% puzzle goal progress by the end of the school year. We want to recognize all the hard work educators and students have done to meet this goal by providing a very special, student-created ST Math banner at your school’s end of year ST Math meeting. But we need your students’ help!

How to Participate:

  1. Create a colorful picture (on a standard 8.5 X11sheet of paper) that includes: JiJi, the number 80 represented as a picture, expression, or equation and whatever other creative ideas you have! The picture should take up the majority of the sheet.
  2. Return your student's entry to their teacher no later than April 5th.
  3. The school with the winning artwork will be notified by April 14th. The winning banner design will be printed by the One8/ST Math team and given to all Massachusetts schools who meet their school-wide goal of 80% average puzzle progress.

Banner Design FAQs:

Who can make a banner?

  • Any ST Math student who has a school being supported by the One8 program. That's US!

What makes a great banner?

  • We are excited to see student-created banners that include Jiji, a representation of the number 80, and whatever other creative designs, colors, and images that might make a banner pop!

Who will submit the banners?

  • Students should return their pictures to their teachers, and we will submit!

GOOD LUCK STUDLEY STARS!
