Dear New Milford Public Schools Families, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members,

I hope that you are enjoying these summer days! We are keeping busy in the school district with our extended school year programming, extra cleaning and maintenance at all of our school buildings and grounds, and planning for the 2024-25 school year. We are looking forward to welcoming close to 3,600 students back to our schools on Monday, August 26!

I would like to introduce you to one of our district's key concepts this year, which is Being On-Track. Families and students in all five schools will hear the phrase "on-track" used throughout the year. Being On-Track in the New Milford Public Schools is about Academics, Being Here (Attendance), Community, and Doing the Right Thing (Behavior and Conduct). Each of these elements of being On-Track leads to a successful school experience for students as they grow and progress through the grade levels. Each step along the track brings every learner closer to our New Milford Public Schools Vision of a Graduate, pictured here:

Please be sure to sign up for our new communication platform, ParentSquare, which includes a phone app for easy-to-receive messages from the schools and the school district.

Please take care to enjoy the last few weeks of August, and we can't wait to welcome students back to the district on August 26!

Thank you for your continued support of our students and our schools.

Janet P. Parlato, Ed.D.

Superintendent of New Milford Public Schools

  • Share pictures and files

  • See calendar items

  • Sign up to volunteer

  • Schedule parent-teacher conferences

  • and much more . . . all in one centralized place!

Have questions once you activate your account? Click the question mark in the top right corner of the desktop version or the Help tab on the app (tap the triple bar icon at the top left) to find answers to most of your questions. We will send more updates throughout the summer regarding ParentSquare.

Cheers to our Custodial and Maintenance staff for working so diligently on our building. The classrooms are looking spiffy, the floors are being waxed, and we have been busy getting everything ready for the next school year.

Our new school messaging system is called ParentSquare. Going forward, we will use this to communicate information from the school.

Open House is scheduled for August 23rd from 12:30 to 1:30. This is an opportunity for parents, care-givers and students to meet the teacher, visit the classroom, and get acclimated with the building. Please be on the lookout for the informational postcard that will go home in mid-August and be sure to scan the QR codes for more information about the New Milford School District, and Parent Square.

Transportation information is found on the district website and is usually published about a week before school begins. It's there you will find your child's bus assignment and approximate pick up and drop off times.

The first day of school is Monday, August 26th. On August 26th and 27th there is early dismissal at 1 PM. We are looking forward to the new faces and welcoming everyone back to school. Please be aware that during the first weeks of school, bus times for drop off and pick up are APPROXIMATE, and will vary until routines are established. It is important for you to be early to the bus stop until set times become regular.

"Popsicles with the Principals" was held on July 23rd. It was super fun with a great turn out despite the rainy weather. Ms. Bilko (SNIS), Mrs.Calabrese (Hill & Plain), and Mrs. Gallagher (Northville) and Mrs. Surreira (Northville) were on hand and enjoyed interacting with the students and families. Building a strong community is a huge part of learning success!

Please be sure to encourage your children to do the Summer Reading and Math Challenges! Information was sent home with students during the last week of school. You can also find info below.

Students who turn in their work during the first week of the 2024-2025 school year will get a chance to SLIME THE PRINCIPALS!
