All-State Preps for Concert

The two All-State Choir quartets and two alternates have been working hard to learn their parts and music in preparation for their upcoming concert next month. The group traveled with choir teacher Mr. Harrington to Northern State University this past week to practice with other all-state qualifiers. An additional rehearsal in Brookings will also prep students before they spend two days in Sioux Falls preparing and performing in the prestigious All-State Choir.

Looking to the Future

Students in Ms. Ecelvia's sophomore literature class have been working to apply literature to their lives.

After reading "The Story of a Vision" by Francis LaFlesche, students were given the chance to make vision boards, showing how and where they see themselves five years from now.

Pictured are Mary, Sphairia, Lorena, Danna, and Alistair, hard at work looking for items to represent their future plans and goals.

Learning Science...Inside and Out!

Students in Ms. Chan's biology class have been exploring photosynthesis through art, experiments, and microscopes. Students created Leaf Pigment Art using natural colors from leaves, tested photosynthesis in action by hole-punching spinach leaves and watching the disks float under sunlight, and examined spinach stomata under the microscope. Each activity showed that photosynthesis is more than theory—it’s real, visible, and happening all around us!

Physical Science tudents took learning outdoors. Armed with their own Hot Wheels cars and ramps, they tested how acceleration works in real life. Under the bright sun, they raced their cars down ramps, timed the runs, and observed how changes in height and slope affected speed.

In both Personal Finance and Ag Business, students learn about cash flow, taking risks, and investments while playing "The Farming Game" and "Cash-less Monoploy."

The only real question that remains is...did Cash beat Bryant at "Cash-less" Monopoly??
