SCHOOL NEWS

WELCOME TO THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR!

Please note that this bulletin CAN be translated into multiple languages. On a desktop just look to the right ---> for the button.

We are so happy to see many old faces in our building, as well as, welcoming many new students, staff, & faculty to our Mary Bryan family.

We have some policy changes that are now in effect for our building. Please note the following:

  1. You must have a car rider tag displayed in your vehicle to pick up your child in the car rider line at the end of the day. If you do not have a tag you must park & come into the front office. You may request car tags through the front office. You may also call Mrs. Terra Weddell @ 317)789*2609 or email your request to tweddell@perryschools.org.
  2. Changes to afternoon transportation for your student MUST be made to the front office no later than 2:00. Busing is very full this year and we have to call the transportation office to get permission for a student to ride the bus with an approved family member/friend.
  3. As always, please make sure you have your ID to pick up your children.
  4. Make sure you send your children to school with a reusable water bottle. Fill up stations are located throughout the building.

A letter about Lanyards coming home

Dear Parents,
Beginning with dismissal on Monday, September 18th , your kindergarten/elementary student will be issued a Bus Tag which they will use to scan on and off of the bus. We ask that your student wear their bus tag and lanyard when boarding the bus in the morning and again in the afternoon as they board the bus at dismissal.
The bus tag will allow us to ensure the safety of our students by logging the time, location and which bus the student entered or exited. Also printed on the bus tag is their Child Nutrition QR code which
will be used in the school cafeteria each day for breakfast and lunch.

If your child’s bus tag is lost, contact the school administration. They will wait three days before submitting a request to print a new bus tag. There will be a $2 fee for the replacement bus tag.

Thank you,

Mrs. Vickie Carpenter

SOCIAL WORK CORNER

September is National Attendance Awareness Month! Here at Mary Bryan, we know every school day counts. Every day our students are learning all day long. Studies have shown that missing ONE day of school can put students TWO days behind. It is important for your child’s academic success that he or she be here EVERY possible day.

If your child needs to miss school for any reason, please call the attendance line at (317) 789-2602.

If you have any questions about whether your child should stay home or come to school, please refer to all information from our nurse, Lisa Zarowski, for guidance. If you have questions about this, please contact her at (317) 789-2641.

Hello Mary Bryan Families!!

This month, we started teaching the Second Steps program here at Mary Bryan Elementary. This well-regarded social emotional curriculum is providing our students with foundational skills of empathy, growth mindset, goal setting, emotion management, and problem solving. Regular classroom lessons, songs, videos, and activities help our student learn and practice their skills every day.

Please see the attached letter from Second Steps for more details.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (317) 789-2615 or sromine@perryschools.org

We can’t wait to hear how our students are using their Second Step skills every day.
