Lutherville Families,

We had a jam-packed week at Lutherville Lab!!

The PTA has showered our teachers and staff with gifts of appreciation this week. A huge THANK YOU from our staff to everyone who has been a part of that effort!!

We had a fantastic Spring Family Night on Tuesday -- much more on that below. Our 5th graders loved Tie-Dye day and taking their panoramic photo and performing in the Steel Drum Band. On Thursday we hosted the Battle of the Books for the Balt. Co. Public Library and our Literary Leopards took second place! Finally, Monday was National Principal's Appreciation Day and I was so grateful to receive many caring gifts and notes of appreciation. Our 3rd graders also did a great job giving their best effort during testing this week. It has been a full week!

Looking ahead, next week is state testing for our 4th and 5th graders. Please do your best to have them well-rested and present for testing next week. We have Rita's Spirit Night on Thursday and the Fun Run on Saturday.

On the horizon, we have the Spring Concert and our Lutherville Lab Sports Days. Please read on below, we need volunteers for those Sports Days to make them the best they can be! Please consider signing up.

It's a busy and beautiful spring at Lutherville Lab, and it looks like the weather is going to catch on next week, too. =)

In partnership,

-Mr. McComb

p.s. -- as we have in previous weeks, attached is information for next year, this week in regard to Ridgely Field Hockey!

Tuesday was an absolute blast at Spring Family Night! It was such a joy to see so many families filling our school and enjoying time together. The Steel Drum Band rocked out! Families got to preview our cafeteria composting and recycling for next year. Students did coding with ozbots and contributed to a mural and learned mindfulness. Families got to pickup and get tips for summer skill development as well.

And our STEAM Fair was awesome! A huge thank you to Liz Roe for coordinating and to every parent who figured out how to bring complex science and make it accessible and hands on for our students!

We are so proud to share the success of two of our student clubs in countywide competitions in the last few weeks!

Our Literary Leopards competed in the Battle of the Books competition, which we hosted at Lutherville on Thursday evening. The team only got one question wrong the entire tournament and took home a second place finish in all of BCPS!

Our team for the 24 math game competition competed at Rodger's Forge Elementary a few weeks ago. All our students competed well, and Ethan S. took home second overall!

Way to go, Leopards!

"Gym-NEWS-ium” PE News and Notes from Mr. Bruns

Lutherville Lab Sports Day Grades 3-5, (9:30am-3:30pm) Friday, May 26, 2023 (Rain Date, May 30)

Sports Day for K-2, (1pm-3:40pm) Friday, June 2, 2023(Rain Date, June 5)

The following are a few things to keep in mind when helping your child get ready for school on Sports Day:

  • You must wear sneakers (no sandal type of shoes with any part of the foot exposed)

  • Wear comfortable play clothes and sunscreen.

  • Bring a water bottle filled with water with your name on it (we will have numerous opportunities to refill water bottles)

  • All students must bring an extra t-shirt/towel to participate in the water relay / water balloon toss station.

We would love for parents and guardians to join us on Sports Day. We are looking for volunteers to help run the activities on the day of the event. Volunteers will be assigned to an area where they will organize the children for a game/ activity. The equipment will be set up for volunteers with easy-to-follow directions. The children have played the majority of the games, so the students will be familiar with many of the activities. I appreciate any help making Sports Day possible. All volunteers must be on the approved volunteer list. The following is a link to be on the volunteer list. https://cos.bcps.org/departments/communications/family_and_community_engagement/b_c_p_s_volunteers
