Social Worker Spotlight
Greetings Families!
Welcome back to Bishop! I hope that all of you were able to experience moments of joy and connection this past summer. I took some time to disconnect and enjoy the outdoors by camping with my husband and kids.
For those of you who are new to Bishop, allow me to introduce myself: I am Diana Johnson (students know me as "Ms. Diana"), the social worker here at Bishop Elementary. This is my 11th year having the privilege of working with the students, staff, and families in our beautiful Bishop Community. I am on campus Mondays-Fridays and available to any student, staff, or family needing support. What can the school social worker help with? Below are a few areas that I focus on in supporting our community:
1. Mental Health - coordinating on-site counseling services and providing referrals to outside providers when appropriate.
2. Checking in on and connecting with students to ensure every child feels a sense of safety and belonging here at Bishop.
3. Helping students resolve difficult social and emotional situations that arise during the school day so they can focus on what they are here to do - LEARN!
4. Consulting with parents and teachers to provide strategies for addressing challenging social, emotional, or behavioral needs.
4. Maintaining close relationships with agencies and organizations that can provide support for our community's basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing.
I can be reached directly via phone - 408-522-8200, ext. 1205, or email - diana.johnson@sesd.org. I look forward to meeting you all!
