Playa Del Fuego & Burning Man
Authentic Relating under the Alps
Work Party in Middleburg on Saturday
We are heading out to the farm in Virginia, where we've had many memorable events, and store the Camp Contact gear. We'll be organizing, cleaning, from 10 am to 6pm, Saturday May 16th, and we'll have plenty of time to catch up with friends and enjoy a lovely spring day!
We need to unload from Love Burn and load up for Playa Del Fuego, as well as organize the barn and help our gracious hosts with their land!
This is also a time to have fun and enjoy chill time in the countryside. We will have food, beverages, and music, as well as time in nature and fresh air, not to mention good friends & new friends!
We are also looking for people who would be interested in making or bringing food to share.
If you have your own repair project or art project you want to work on at the farm, we welcome it. We have access to various hand tools and power tools such as a table saw, drill press, 3-D printer (needs to be set up), and more! Let Darrell know.
Come help us enhance the camp's structure as a vessel for emergence and transformation!
Address provided to people RSVPing to this event in the days before the event.
We are gearing up for Playa Del Fuego! Please sign up today if you're thinking of joining us! We are setting up our DJ booth this year and offering Ecstatic Dance each afternoon, with DJ's coming from as far as Seattle, WA (DJ Journey Weaver) and North Carolina to offer sets for us! If our build goes well, we'll also set up our steam bath! Please come early and help build, get your early entry pass here by May 15th. We still have room on the schedule for events, submit your event here.
At time of press, we do have extra tickets available if you want to join us at Playa Del Fuego. Please create an account at https://peacock.firepony.org if you want to receive a ticket. PDF Tickets are electronic only through this website. and are $90. Note we don't anticipate doing any other events besides PDF and Burning Man this year, as we want to maintain our focus on these two great events and not dilute our efforts or get distracted with other events. We will have another work party or two to get all of our gear ready to go to Burning Man, a lot of it was damaged in the storms last year an we want to have it in the best condition for this year!
Camp Contact makes an early return to Flash Sunday Love for our annual Fundraiser, Outfit Exchange and Love Bazaar at Flash! Our campers will be on hand to share information about our camp and get people involved in all that makes Camp Contact a community! Join us starting at 2:45 PM for a Cacao & Sound Journey with The Plant Based Pirate, Sha Golanski! Note, doors close at 3:10 pm until 4pm when the music starts with DJ Electrocute. Reach out to Darrell if you'd like to vend at this event, we'd love to see the artisans and healers of the Camp Contact community well represented.
We welcome your burner outfit donations at GlowHouse at any time, there is a bin in front of the house where you can bring clothing, gear, supplies to support Burners travelling into the dust. We also can accept them at Playa Del Fuego, the work party, or just bring them before 5pm to Sunday Love! Thanks!
Camp Contact’s most significant annual gathering happens at Burning Man, where we form a community of movers who celebrate Contact Improvisation, Acro Yoga, Ecstatic Dance and Authentic Relating. We have about 45 people signed up, with more telling me they'll be signing up. We will cap our camp at 100 solid campers with strong initiative to support camp and follow through on our mission to bring transformational, embodied workshops to the playa!
We've already assembled a crack build team for 2026, with Nemo, Dorf, Jessie, Temeri, Eva, MamaRocq & Bodhi planning to join us to set up camp, along with campers from our hubmates BRC Studio & Spa and Dark Heart and a few others. This year we are organizing our build and strike schedules very clearly, and you'll know exactly what projects we need you to work on for strike or build a few weeks ahead of time! We welcome others to join us for build! Registration for Camp Contact at Burning Man 2026 is open!

We've got a camper planning to bring a Dance Pole and 16' aerial rig to complement our event offerings! I've heard from a number of you who want to offer workshops! In particular, we have someone planning to bring a Kama Flight workshop to camp! Kama Flight is a blend of things we love so much-- Acro Yoga, Thai Massage and Contact Improvisation. We will be accepting workshop proposals from the link on our website at http://brc.campcontact.org/events
In addition to our standard pods of Contact Improvisation, Acro Yoga, Authentic Relating, and Ecstatic dance pods, we have a Florida-based pod planning to join us! We also will have a Gatherers' Pod, which will embrace the Metamodern Magicians community that we've been nurturing along. See more details about The Gathering event that Camp Contact will be attending in October for details about this community.
Our kickoff planning meeting will be 2 PM Eastern, 11 AM Pacific on Sunday, May 17th in the Camp Contact Zoom Room, (Password: Contact) please join us if you want to learn more. We will have additional organizing meetings on Sunday Afternoons and Monday evenings Easter Time leading up to the event, and this event will be recorded and shared with registrants.
We are excited to bring our kitchen to new heights with a lot of planning ahead of time. As we did last year, we will be organizing everyone in to a pod of 8-10 people which will be responsible for preparing one lunch and one dinner over the course of the week (assuming you're on the meal plan). We plan to have menus solidified by early August and arranged for each pod. We have a new question on the camp registration form: "Do you feel comfortable leading a team to make a meal for up to 100 campers or would you be open to learning and being coached ahead of time to do so?" We are looking to identify lead chefs who can organize the meal prep and want to ensure each pod has one or two lead chefs in it! I've heard from many campers who've lead their first large meal prep with contact that it was quite a rush to step up to this challenge and bring a great meal to their fellow campers! Please log in to our camp app and update your registration as there are other new questions.
Besides the new question, there are many new features and aspects to the camp app, including a roster with all of the current campers listed, the camp maps, pod listings with podmates, and many more upgrades in the works. Thanks to the emergence of various Vibecoding apps, I've found it easy to bring a lot of great new functionality to the app. I'm excited to be developing a Build & Strike management tool that will assign everyone their projects ahead of time for strike so they know what they'll most likely be doing and when. This new functionality will provide a clear path to taking down, packing away and loading our gear to the location it belongs and will be accessible on playa to check for the latest updates! We aim to be very close to done with Strike by Monday evening so we can get on our way to decompressing on Tuesday!
We won't be taking last minute campers this year, it is important for people to be connected with camp ahead of time through our Zoom Calls. If you think you might want to come, we welcome your registration now, so that you can get synced up, and if it turns out you can't come, we understand.

- The Alps: Our 60' x 60' shade structure with Puzzle (Dojo) mats and Sound System
- Our Dome: 30' Air Conditioned dome offering privacy
- The Tetons: Our Dining room which can accommodate ~20 people for a lecture or conversation
Deadline to submit is June 15th, if you want the event to have a chance of appearing in the What Where When book, and you can submit until early August and still be included in our printed schedule and the Dust App. At this moment there is an open schedule and we welcome event submissions from anyone. If we start running out of space, we will prioritize campers with Camp Contact for inclusion in our schedule.
If you haven't been able to get tickets yet, as a theme camp, we expect to be able to access a second DGS sale coming up in late June. Directed Group Sale (DGS) tickets are offered to theme camps who are supporting key offerings to the playa, as Camp Contact does. If you want to join us, and get a ticket, please sign up for camp now and indicate that you need a ticket in your registration. I can't remember a time since 2012 that we haven't been able to get tickets for campers who wanted to join us. I also have an extensive social network and have been able to get tickets in August, and I'd prefer not to be doing this. There will also be a OMG Last Chance sale in early August when you can get tickets. Further, if you think you might be eligible for the the Ticket Aid (Low Income) Ticket Program, its not too late to apply for it.
Proposed Camp Layout
We've asked for more space to set up what is essentially the similar setup and layout to what we did in 2025. We've added a third aluminet shade structure that will give room for more tents and will also allow for the event space to take up the entire 60' x 60' area provided. The Dining room will be on the other side of the kitchen from the event space, and share some of its space with tents. We may end up reducing our footprint depending on how many campers join us; we want to be as responsible for MOOPing as little land as possible.
Dark Heart and BRC Studio & Spa joining to form a Hub with Camp Contact
We are excited to be creating a Hub with two other camps in 2026. Last year's neighbors, BRC Studio & Spa reached out and asked to join us this year, and we are glad to share utilities with them. We reached out to Dark Heart, with whom we've had some great campers join our camp from, and they are now joining us. Below is the proposed alignment of camps in the Hub we submitted to placement!
We will run a Container to the Playa in 2026, from Washington, DC to Black Rock City and back! Load in will be Saturday, August 15th, 2026 at GlowHouse. We have room to expand this year, with multiple trailers going from DC/VA to Black Rock City and back. We are taking time now to do routine and extended maintenance on all of our playa bound equipment to ensure safe, reliable transport that arrives on time.
Join us at The Gathering US
We're finally going to make it to The Gathering as a camp. We had intended to go to The Gathering - Portugal in 2024 but it was too far to go. Now, The Gathering is coming to the US! Specifically, it will be held at Camp Navarro, in Mendocino, CA, October 12-18, 2026!
The Gathering US brings together:
Change makers
Social entrepreneurs
Community builders
Systems thinkers
Artists, creators, performers
Scientists
These groups set up small theme camps that offer their campers a place to convene in and offer workshops, conversations and other events relevant to their efforts. This event vibes well with the metamodern and liminal web spaces, which is our draw to it. Let us know here if you'd like to be a part of Camp Contact at The Gathering!
Farewell Bessie!
- Bessie, our 1986 Stick Shift 1 Ton Truck with a lift gate and crane has been sold! We got her around 2012 or thereabouts and she was helpful for moving around swamp coolers, dance floors and dojo mats, among other things. We last had her running in 2022, right after the pandemic. We took many trips to the Trego and Frog Pond hot springs during build week in our early years with her! I can't say I'll miss the breakdowns she had, but she was a big part of our camp for a number of years.
Camp Contact Mission and Vision
Camp Contact creates transformational workshops that bring embodiment, awareness, sensitivity and inspiration and offers them at burns! And, we work together to understand and grow in our relationships. This camp is an ever-growing network of amazing humans. We are so grateful that, at each event, bonds are forged. You put the connection into Contact. We look forward to dancing with you!
