Prototype

After an engaging unit in states of matter, students in Mrs. Bourassa's class had to design a protoype "cooler" that would insulate a freeze pop. This is one group's design.

Test and Analyze

The student's designs were SO good, that after the first 30 minutes, there was very little melting, and they had to wait another hour! After an hour, the measured the amount of melt in each group's ice pop using a graduated cylinder.

Reflection

Project Lead the Way incorporates a lot of reflective writing and here is one student's analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of his prototype.

Student Placement Information for 2024-2025

April 1, 2024

Dear Memorial School Families,

We will begin the process of creating class lists for 2024-2025 in late April/early May for students entering grades K, 1, 2, 3 and 4. The Miscoe Hill Middle School administration arranges placement for students entering grade 5 after consultation with Memorial teachers and staff. All of the student placement decisions we make are based on several factors, including teacher input, the need for creating balanced classes with regard to number of students, students’ academic, social, and emotional needs, and any parent input as to specific significant issues that may affect their child.

Please be reminded that requests for specific teachers will not be accommodated due to the impossibility of satisfying everyone while creating balanced classes. It is our firm belief that each student will have their needs met regardless of the assigned teacher, and that all of our teachers are highly qualified professionals who will provide the opportunity for each student to succeed. In addition, although our teachers employ a range of styles, they teach under the same umbrella of core values, curriculum, and best instructional practices. We will utilize the wealth of information we already have to create balanced classes. It is not necessary, nor is it expected, that parents communicate regarding class placement. However, we welcome information that we may be unaware of (for example, we will separate students who have had ongoing, significant challenges with one another and/or students who get along so well they may serve as distractions to one another). If you have a specific concern about your child that you wish the school to be aware of with regard to class placement, please complete this form by Monday, April 29th. A great deal of time is invested in class list development. Because of our timeline, information received after April 29th will not be able to be considered. Please also know that teachers will have access to the information you communicate with us.

As always, we appreciate your ongoing work and support to help your child have a successful and memorable experience at Memorial School.

Sincerely,

Wendy Bell

School Drop Off and Pick Up Routines and Directions

Please click here for more information on parent drop off and pick up, including a video explaining the process

School Hours

Our school hours are 8:45am-3:15pm. Drop off begins at 8:45 and students who arrive after 9:00am are considered tardy. We will begin dismissal right around 3:15pm.

Due to the hectic nature of the late afternoon, we will no longer be allowing parent dismissals from the main office after 2:45pm. If your child has an appointment, please plan to dismiss him/her earlier, or make use of our pick up line at 3:15pm. Thank you for understanding.
