New Year Goals: Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Happy New Year! As we start 2026, we aim to set the stage for a strong and successful second half of the school year. The absolute best way to achieve this is by prioritizing consistent, on-time attendance from the very beginning.
We ask for your partnership in making excellent attendance a top priority for 2026:
- Be On Time: Starting the day on time sets students up for success and minimizes classroom disruption.
- Avoid Unnecessary Absences: Whenever possible, please schedule appointments outside of school hours.
- Communicate: If your student must be absent due to illness, please notify your school office immediately.
CVUSD is better together - let's make 2026 a year defined by growth, achievement, and outstanding attendance! Check out this video from our CVUSD Communications Department Volunteer High School Interns for more on the importance of maintaining good attendance.
We are thrilled to announce that our students’ home games at Newbury Park High, Thousand Oaks High and Westlake High will now be live-streamed through HUDL! This exciting new program is made possible through the generous support of our amazing Booster programs and CVUSD. Whether you’re cheering from the stands or from home, you’ll be able to catch all the action and share in the excitement of our student athletes’ hard work and dedication.
To get started visit: HUDL Fan account and select "Create Account" to make your free account and follow CVUSD home games across our district. Once your account is set up, you can search for your student’s school, follow their teams, and enjoy streaming right from your phone, tablet, or computer—at no cost to you.
In January 2025, our community was impacted by Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events. These events can occur with little to no advance notice and can result in our school campuses being without power for extended periods of time. Here is what to expect should a PSPS event occur:
- CVUSD school campuses will continue to be open when a school does not have power due to a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) initiated by Southern California Edison.
- Consideration to not open schools would include evacuation orders or if a school facility was deemed to be unsafe.
- Students and families rely on our schools to provide safe spaces, meaningful social connections, nutritious meals, engaging teaching and learning, and caring relationships with staff. Schools create a sense of stability amidst times of uncertainty.
