3.30-4.3.26 Providencia Elementary School Newsletter
Dear Providencia Families,
Last week’s PTA meeting was a wonderful celebration of the people and students who make Providencia such a special place. We were proud to recognize three Honorary Service Award recipients: Megan Wiebler and Chris Wiebler, whose dedication and creativity bring our annual Talent Showcase to life year after year, and Becky Mullins, who has served our PTA in virtually every role with unwavering commitment to our school.
We also introduced our newly elected PTA Board, and we are grateful for their willingness to lead and serve our community in the year ahead:
- President: Katie Moore
- Executive Vice President: Kelly Watson
- Vice President, Membership: Kelly Castillo
- Vice President, Fundraising: VACANT
- Secretary: Kathleen Macaranas
- Treasurer: Byron Barnes
- Financial Secretary: Julianna Ontiveros
- Auditor/Financial Reviewer: Kara Szekely
Our 3rd–5th Pawsitivity Choir shared their voices and joy with a beautiful performance that reminded us how powerful student leadership and the arts can be!
Finally, we celebrated two outstanding students, Jordan Todd and Jose Drake, who are advancing to the National PTA Reflections Contest in the Accessible Arts Division. We are incredibly proud of their creativity and achievement.

Fri., 4/3 Spirit Wear Theme and Spirit Assembly
Wear Rainbow Colors for Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month
April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. Autism acceptance fosters understanding, inclusion, and celebration of individuals with autism, moving beyond just awareness. The rainbow infinity symbol has become the symbol for autism acceptance. The rainbow of colors will symbolize the spectrum and how all brains work differently. Although it is not required, we encourage students to wear the colors based on their grade level.
Spirit Assembly @ 8:35 am
Join us for our monthly Spirit Assembly where we will kick-off our Character Trait of the Month, Perseverance/Grit and our DEI Observance, Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month!
We will also recognize All-Star Students, Read-A-Thon and PAWS Ticket winners!
If you can't join in person, we also livestream it on our private FaceBook page.
Fri. 4/2 Coffee with the Principal
On the first Friday of each month, Principal Celeste hosts an in-person Coffee with the Principal. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions and/or ideas that you would like to be addressed at Coffee with the Principal, please click here.
We will also dedicate 15-20 minutes of our Coffee meeting to support parents of children who have a 504 Plan or IEP. Please come to learn about our school goals of inclusion and supporting our neurodiverse students!
March DEI Observance: Women's History Month
As we step into March, our school community is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month. This year’s national theme, "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future," invites us to look beyond just environmental conservation. It challenges us to honor the women—past and present—who are building sustainable systems in finance, community resilience, education, and social justice to ensure a better world for the generations to follow.
Throughout the month, our students will be exploring the stories of trailblazers like marine biologist Dr. Sylvia Earle, environmental justice advocate Catherine Coleman Flowers, and many others who have reimagined how we care for our planet and each other. Our DEI initiatives aim to ensure that every student sees themselves reflected in these stories of leadership and innovation.
We encourage you to continue these conversations at home. Whether it’s researching a famous scientist or simply interviewing a "local legend" in your own family, there are so many ways to bring women's history to life.
To help you celebrate at home, here are a few resources (NEW LINKS!)
