Good Evening Yowell Families,

As we step into November, I want to pause and tell each of you I am thankful to be the principal of Yowell Elementary. Our school is filled with fantastic students and teachers who are greatly supported by each of you our wonderful parents.

Just a gentle reminder - today was daylight savings time and we turned our clocks back one hour. This week is a bit on the busy side starting with a science show during the day on Monday. There is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday for students, with the remainder of the week having the students back at their desks.

The holidays are approaching. If your family is in NEED of the holiday assistance program or if you or your family would like to DONATE to the holiday assistance program, please click here and complete the forms by November 15, 2023.

Did you know that CCPS is hiring substitute teachers and paraeducators? We offer monthly orientation sessions for you to get started. This is a great way to make some extra money and work a flexible schedule. Rates vary from $126 - $183 per day. Our next orientation session is on October 25th so apply today at culpeperschools.org

Each year, we encourage students, parents and the general public to send thank-you notes to Virginia’s deserving public school teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week in May. For the last six years, these thank-you notes have featured winning artwork by three Virginia public-school students.

Virginia’s teachers deserve our thanks and we’re once again calling on K-12 public school students to submit custom artwork for the seventh annual Thank a Teacher Art Contest!

The Art Contest is open to Virginia K-12 public school students, and one top-prize winner will be selected from each level; elementary school, middle school and high school. The three winners will not only get to see their artwork featured on the 2024 notecards, they’ll also receive individual cash prizes and win money and prizes for their school!

If you are able and would like to donate to our musical, please click here to view the musical's Amazon wish list. If you would like to send in a check, please make it out to Yowell Elementary School and put "musical donation" in the memo line. Putting on a musical is very expensive so we appreciate all of the help we can get!

In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here.

We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.

We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact Deputy Sinclair with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
