Marshallese TV Featuring Biligual Community Service Learning
New on Marshallese TV: Building Bridges at SHS
We are so excited to share our recent interview with two incredible guests, Yisela Mancia and Wendy Lealiiee. They sat down with us to talk about the heart of what makes Springdale High School so special: our amazing bilingual community.
What is Bilingual Community Service Learning?
At SHS, being bilingual is a superpower! The BCSL program (also known as the Bilingual Bulldogs) allows students to use their language skills to help others. In this episode, Yisela and Wendy explain how these students: Mentor Younger Students: Visiting elementary schools to help kids with reading and literacy. Create Bilingual Books: Writing and designing their own books in Marshallese, Spanish, and English to share with the community. Break Barriers: Acting as a bridge for families and earning the Seal of Biliteracy for their professional skills. Why It Matters This program is about more than just schoolwork it’s about pride and leadership. By breaking down language barriers, our students are making sure every voice in Springdale is heard and valued. Don’t miss this inspiring interview! Tune in to Marshallese TV to see how our Bilingual Bulldogs are turning their cultural heritage into meaningful community action.
