St Teresa's School Newsletter
Friday 5th September 2025
Kia ora e te whānau,
What a wonderful way to round off our term of performing arts! Congratulations to all our talented students who represented St Teresa’s so beautifully in the Arts Splash Choir and the South Wairarapa Kapa Haka Festival. We are so proud of your creativity, energy, and commitment. A huge thank you also goes to our amazing staff team – none of this would have been possible without your hard work, encouragement, and passion for the arts. You have given our tamariki opportunities to shine and it has truly been an outstanding term of performing arts.
A big thank you as well to our FOSTA team and everyone who came along to support our School Gala. It was a fabulous community event – full of fun, laughter, and generosity – and we are so grateful for the way our community comes together to support our kura.
We warmly invite you to our End of Term Mass on Friday 19th September at 9.30am in Anzac Hall, where we will also celebrate the baptism of Tyler, Xader, and Scarlet. This is a very special occasion for our school and parish community, and we would love to have you join us in prayer and celebration.
Looking ahead, we also invite you to our Whānau Hui on Wednesday 17th September – an informal evening to grab a drink, share your ideas, and help shape the future direction of our school through the next Strategic Plan. While parents and carers meet, the children can enjoy a movie night together at school.
Please also take 5 minutes to complete our whānau questionnaire – your voice is invaluable, and by doing so you’ll go in the draw to win fuel vouchers! Link below

We Need Your Voice!
Help Shape Our Next Strategic Plan
At St Teresa’s, we are starting work on a new Strategic Plan for the next three years. We want to hear from you – our whānau, parish, and community – so that together we can set the direction and priorities for our tamariki. Either fill in the questionnaire below or come along to our hui.
Our current plan has already led to many great improvements, such as:
-
Strengthening our Catholic Character and faith life.
-
Lifting student learning in reading, writing, and maths.
-
Supporting wellbeing for both staff and students.
-
Growing stronger connections with whānau, parish, and iwi.
-
Making our school environment better and more sustainable.
These successes show the impact of planning together – and now we need your voice again. Your feedback will directly influence the next plan and ensure that it reflects what matters most for our tamariki.
📅 Whānau Hui

Arts Splash
On Monday 25 August our incredible senior choir attended the Artsplash Festival, performing at the Michael Fowler Centre. We made the most of a day in Wellington and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We managed to squeeze in a trip to Te Papa and enjoyed some McDonald's or Taco Bell for afternoon tea. A huge thank you to Soly, Nora, Tanja, Asta and Louise for giving up their day and evening to support our choir and make this trip possible. Also to Erin McBride, Ksenija, Luka, Sarah and Maria, who all helped transport the students. These experiences would not be possible without your support.
The choir has worked so hard learning 9 very challenging songs, including one with sign language and one with actions. I am so proud of them and their determination, courage and positivity towards trying something new. Bring on Artsplash 2027!
Chess Tournament
Congratulations to Felix, Lexx, and Zeke who took part in the recent chess tournament. The boys played with focus, determination, and showed excellent sportsmanship across their matches. It was great to see their strategic thinking and steady improvement on display.
Ka rawe, Felix, Lexx, and Zeke—you represented St Teresa’s with pride! ♟️
