Important Reminder for Car Riders Drop Off and Pick Up
We are having a lot of students get out to the car or enter the car from the drivers side. Please make sure students are using the passenger side, along the sidewalk, for safety. We want to keep everyone safe and need your help with this. Please ensure students are able to load and unload from the passenger side without having to walk around the car during drop off and pick up.

Need help getting your Parent Canvas Page set up?
Canvas is where all of our teachers post their agendas and assignments for students. You have a parent account as well. This allows you to see the work that your student is doing at school, is helpful if they are absent, and allows you to check without having to use your student's account. Below is a link to directions for setting up your account.
School Clubs Require a Current Physical on File from THIS School Year.
If your child is interested in doing an after school club that involves any type of physical activity we need to have a physical on file. We need a physical from this school year, not last year. This is due to not having a nurse at the building after school hours. You can print the Physical Form from the link below or use any Physical Form from your doctor's office. Please see the flyer below for information. We do have several fun after school clubs all year long, some starting very soon!
Communication
Every Friday you will receive a weekly newsletter. This is the school's way of communicating important events and sharing all of the fun from the week.
We will also utilize ParentSquare and our Joan Martin Facebook page to communicate with you.
You can also find current information about school events:

Arrival and Dissmissal Procedures
Car Riders
- Car riders are dropped off/picked up in the back of the school and enter/exit Door 11
- Parents need to stay in the car line and pull around the circle as directed by the superviosors when dropping off and picking up students.
- If you would like to park, you will need to park in Lot C (The Fenced Lot in back) and walk your student to the sidewalk. Parents walk students to the loading doc road and students walk to the Door 11 from there.
- Parents should NOT park in Lot A (front lot) and walk/pick up students at the door. This is where our buses pull through and creates a dangerous situation if parked there.
- Door 11 will remain open till 8:55, after that please walk to the front, Door 1
Walkers
- Students who walk to school should enter Door 7 (the same door as bus riders)
- Door 7 will remain open until 8:45, if it is after this time please come to the front, Door 1
Changes to End of the Day Transportation
Please do not email the teacher throughout the day with end of the day changes to transportation. You will need to call the main office to make any changes to ensure that both the teacher and your student get the information. All changes must be done prior to 1:30 pm unless it is an emergency situation. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Transportation and Bus Reminders
As we start school, it is important for the safety of our children to be aware of our school buses.
The stop arm and blinking lights mean “STOP”. To disregard the stop arm is a misdemeanor and mandatory court appearance. The Hobart Police Department has shared that law allows the police to use the bus driver’s observations to issue a citation to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Our ultimate goal is a safe commute for children to and from school.
How To Report An Absence
If your child isn't feeling well, please keep him or her at home. You must report the absence to the school before 10:00 AM.
