Bobcat Bulletin
September 2026
From the desk of Dr. Frank
Dear Bobcat Families,
Can you believe we have already wrapped up our first few weeks of the 2026-2027 school year? It has been an absolute joy welcoming your children back into our hallways. Seeing their smiling faces and watching them settle in their classroom communities has filled our campus with incredible energy!
At Byrd Elementary, our vision is to inspire others to dream big, think creatively, and embrace lifelong learningβoperating under the firm belief that the sky is the limit. As we move into September, our mission remains to go above and beyond to inspire and challenge all students. We are so grateful for your partnership as we strive for "Byrd Best, Nothing Less!".
Living The Bobcat Way
Our daily interactions and school culture are anchored in our core values. This month, we are focusing on teaching and modeling these values to build strong, supportive relationships across our community:
Integrity: Being honest, fair, and ethical.
Inclusion: Dedicating ourselves to being welcoming and supportive to all.
Grace: Modeling compassion, forgiveness, and open-mindedness.
Teamwork: Supporting each other to achieve our common goal of excellence.
Relationships: Maintaining and nurturing positive connections with all of our stakeholders.
Inspire: Encouraging our students to find their passions and dream big.
Important Campus Routines & Reminders
To ensure a safe, efficient, and positive environment for all students, please take a moment to review these important operational routines:
Lunch Drop-Off Policy: For safety, security, and scheduling reasons, please remember that we do not allow lunch drop offs during the school day. Please ensure your child has their lunch with them when they arrive in the morning, or that they plan to purchase a hot meal from our cafeteria.
Cafeteria Purchase Limits: To help manage student accounts and ensure a smooth lunch period, cafeteria purchases are limited to one purchase per student. If parents wish to purchase additional items for their child, they must be present in the cafeteria to do so.
Staying Informed: Communication is a cornerstone of our partnership. Please stay updated on all upcoming campus events, academic curriculum, and assessments by regularly reviewing our weekly newsletters, parent emails, and the school website.
We are honored to work alongside you to help your children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Letβs make this September a truly outstanding month!
Thank you for sharing your children
Amy Frank Principal, Byrd Elementary
Lunch Visitors
Lunch visitors are welcome on campus each Wednesday and Friday, beginning Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Please sign up for only one lunch visit per child, as we want to give all parents the opportunity to visit. Visitors who have not signed up in advance will not be accommodated.
Pre-K lunch visits will begin during the second semester to give our Pre-K students time to adjust to school routines and become comfortable with the lunchroom before welcoming visitors.
Thank you for your support and understanding!

Transportation Procedures
Car Riders
We have many before-school activities, so we need to keep one car rider lane open in the mornings. Please don't park in the far-right lane until 7:40 am (closest to the building). Also, no one should be walking across the car rider line when cars are moving. If your student walks by themselves, please remind them not to cross when cars are moving. To ensure the safety of our students, please refrain from using cell phones in the car rider lines.

Nurse Notes
Please keep a change of clothing for all students in their backpack every day.
If your child has any health conditions, please inform Nurse Amy at 281-955-4025.
Please be aware that if your child needs any medication at school a parent must bring it to the clinic and complete a βRequest to Administer Medicationβ form.
Children are NOT allowed to transport medication to and from school according to CFISD policy. All medication must be signed into the clinic by a Parent or Guardian.
Please call Nurse Amy at 281-955-4025 or email her at amy.weibel@cfisd.net for any questions or concerns.
Keeping Sick Children at Home
A sick child who is unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should be kept home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve.
Keeping a sick child home also protects other children, school staff, and visiting community members from contracting an illness that can be spread from person to person.
Please be aware of the following CFISD guidelines for school attendance.
Fever: A child must remain home with fever equal to or > 100Β° F and may only return after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.
Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and/or vomiting must stay at home and may return to school only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.
Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Following a diagnosis of pink eye, a child may return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescribed medication has been administered.
Rashes: Common infectious diseases with rashes are most contagious in the early stages. A child with a suspicious rash must stay at home and may return to school after a health care provider has made a diagnosis and authorizes the child's return to school in writing or symptoms have resolved completely.
Head lice (pediculosis): Students who have an active case of live lice may attend school only after treatment which eliminates all live lice. Head lice do not jump or fly and are most commonly contracted by head-to-head touch. Head lice are common in school-aged children, so parents should routinely monitor children for live lice and teach the avoidance of behaviors that spread lice.
If you take your child to a healthcare provider for an evaluation of illness or injury, please be sure to request a written letter stating when your child may return to school and any accommodations required upon his/her return.
A healthy school community requires parents and schools to partner with each other. To prevent/minimize local outbreaks of contagious disease, parents must keep children who have an illness that can be spread from person to person at home, and CFISD school nurses will exclude students with symptoms of a communicable illness from school attendance.
