Roosevelt Elementary School
August 2026
Welcome, Roosevelt Families! 😃
I am incredibly excited and honored to join the Roosevelt family as your new principal. I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff and beginning this journey together. My goal is to help create a school community where every student feels safe, valued, supported, and excited to learn each day.
I believe that every child brings unique strengths, talents, and the ability to grow. The elementary years are such an important part of a child’s educational journey, and I want Roosevelt to be a place where students are excited to come to school each day, feel a strong sense of belonging, and develop the academic and personal skills they need to thrive. Through our Ron Clark Academy House System, our commitment to the Vision of a Lakewood Ranger, and strong partnerships among our staff, families, and community, I am confident that we can create an environment where students feel supported, inspired, and empowered to grow.
Together, we will continue creating meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, kindness, confidence, and a love of learning. We will celebrate our students’ successes, learn from challenges, and always keep their growth and well-being at the center of what we do.
I look forward to working alongside our staff and families to make Roosevelt a place where every child knows they belong and believes they can accomplish great things.
I am so excited for the year ahead and all that we will accomplish together. Here’s to a wonderful year filled with learning, connection, growth, and celebration!
Kindly,
Ms. Hadeel Nimeh
Principal, Roosevelt Elementary School

Staff Update
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Miranda Warren to Roosevelt Elementary. Ms. Warren is our new Title I ISGI teacher.
Parent Portal: Update Permissions & Communications
Returning families must update permissions and contact information for the 2026-27 school year through the Infinite Campus parent portal. You should have received an email Aug. 1 with the necessary info to make your student updates. Need help logging in? Click here.
School and district updates will continue to be sent regularly via email. If you do not have internet access and need a hard copy of school communications, or a translated version, please let your student’s teacher know, and we will be sure to provide what you need.
School Bell Schedule
Families should plan to arrive as close to 8:45 a.m. as possible so students have time to settle in and connect with their teacher and classmates before learning begins. Students arriving after 8:55 a.m. must report to the office for a tardy slip.
- 8:30–8:45 am – Breakfast (enter via cafeteria door #8, breakfast only, no gym waiting period)
- 8:45–8:55 am – Arrival through main doors; students go straight to classrooms
- 8:50 am – Announcements
- 8:55 am – Tardy bell
- 3:15 pm – Dismissal
Arrival & Dismissal
Every adult is expected to follow the Roosevelt Elementary drop-off and pick-up plan. Please do not use neighborhood streets for drop-off and pickup to avoid the driver line. This creates unnecessary safety and traffic concerns. Please review pedestrian and bicycle safety with your child(ren), and share the arrival and dismissal procedures with any additional caregivers who are designated to pick up your child from school.
Arrival
- To align with the other Lakewood elementaries, there is no early supervised arrival in the gym. With the exception of breakfast students, students should not arrive before 8:45 am. Breakfast students enter 8:30–8:45 am through cafeteria door #8; all others arrive at 8:45 am through the main doors.
Dismissal
- If you have any changes, please notify your child’s teacher of changes before the day starts. For day-of changes, call the office by 2:30 pm. Car riders wait in the gym until called, and cars should use provided green tags for identification. Walkers exit from the south side of the building. All students must depart school grounds unless in a school activity or under parent/guardian supervision.
- Our south-facing doors are only intended for students who walk home from school. Do not park and walk up to the doors. Adding additional traffic and parked cars on Bayes and neighboring streets creates unnecessary congestion and an extremely unsafe situation for our families and neighbors. It also blocks residents from accessing their driveways.
Arrival & Dismissal Safety
If you drive your child to school, please review the following:
- Please do not use neighborhood streets for drop-off and pickup to avoid the driver line.
- Please watch for students walking and biking when entering and exiting school property.
- Please pull all the way up to the end of the parking lot when dropping off/picking up your child and avoid blocking crosswalks while waiting in the car line.
- Please read and follow "do not enter" signs around the building during specified hours.
Active Transportation and Carpooling Are Encouraged
Whenever possible, families are encouraged to walk, bike, or carpool with their neighbors. Schoolpool is an excellent way to connect with other families to walk, bike, or carpool together.
Walking and biking help students start the day alert and ready to learn.
SchoolPool connects families for "walking school buses", bike trains, and carpools.
Learn more here: Schoolpool webpage
Families who participate in before- and after-care programs can still participate! You can coordinate walking, biking, or carpooling with other families utilizing these services — and it may even make drop-offs and pick-ups easier.
If your student is able, using active transportation such as walking or biking is a great alternative to tackling the car line and it benefits both your student and the environment!
School Safety Tip Line
The Safer Ohio School Tip Line is a free safety resource available to all Ohio schools. The tip line is an anonymous reporting system that accepts both calls and texts 24 hours a day. Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts within Ohio Homeland Security. We encourage everyone in our community to use this tip line if they hear or see something suspicious or unusual. #SpeakUpSaveLives
Medications
If your child needs medication administered during the school day (including EpiPens or inhalers), a parent should plan to bring in the medication (with a prescription container) and a completed authorization form on the first day of school. The form can be found on the Lakewood City Schools website. Click on “Forms” and select the appropriate form (for prescribed medication, EpiPen, and/or inhaler). For further information, please visit the district website, Click on “Departments” and select “Health Services” or contact our school office.
Roosevelt Family Handbook
For more information on smartwatches, dress code, scooters, etc. please refer to the 2026-27 Roosevelt Family Handbook linked here which can also be found on the school website.
Attendance
Research shows that attendance plays a very significant role in student achievement and long term success. This year, Ohio’s House Bill 96 requires districts to notify families when their student has missed 5% of the minimum number of hours required in the school year. (This equates to about 1 day a month.) We look forward to working with you to support your student in being at school as many days as possible. Let’s start strong, Roosevelt!
Fees
Parents/guardians can now pay school fees via the Infinite Campus parent portal. See the following link for directions on making a payment: Fee payment instructions. Those who do not wish to pay fees online may submit their payment to their school office. If you have questions about fees, please contact the office.
