OctoBooooooor at SPCL!
The Seward Park Campus Library Newsletter
Come Get a Boooooooook!
We're so happy to be in the company of so many readers! Books have been flying off the shelves. For the month of October, we are running a fun little game to encourage you to continue checking out more. Our interns have hidden these cute little book ghosts in our books. If you check one of these books out, you can win a special treat, so come through! Click the photo to access our catalog!
How to find a book!
Our library, like most academic libraries, is not genre-fied. This means it's not set up like a bookstore where you can just search by genre. However, we have made some handy dandy tools in our catalog to help you find the books you're looking for. Just head to https://www.sewardparkcampuslibrary.org/ to link directly to our catalog and watch the helpful How-to video below!
Ebooks and Audiobooks on Sora and Libby!
You can also find a huge collection of ebooks and audiobooks on Sora and Libby! Watch these two videos to help you access both!
Late Hours on Thursdays and Fridays!
In case you missed it, we have late hours on Thursdays and Fridays! You are welcome to join us before school, during lunch (please eat your lunch upstairs, though), and afterschool. During class hours, be sure to sign in at one of the two computers or using the QR codes by the sign in. If you need more time afterschool, you can head right over to the Seward Park Library which has a special teen section and later hours. It's right across Seward Park at 192 East Broadway.
NYPL Library Card Sign Ups
We held our NYPL library card sign up, but don't fret if you missed it. There are still NYPL library card applications available at the circulation desk, which you can drop off yourself at the local Seward Park NYPL Branch, or which I can drop off for you (takes about one week). Or you can always apply for a digital card at https://www.sewardparkcampuslibrary.org/community.
(Pre)Register to Vote!
In case you missed our voter drive, please stop by the library to pre-register to vote. NY state is a pre-register state meaning that you can sign up to vote at age 16 and vote when you are 18! Just go to https://www.sewardparkcampuslibrary.org/events to find out more information or link to the voter registration link there!
National Coming Out Day!
National Coming Out day is Friday, October 11. Thanks to our community partners at the LGBT Network, we have postcards, ribbon pins, and stickers to help support our LGBTQIA+ community. Find out more at https://weartheribbon.org/.
Music Recording and Podcast Studio!
Welcome to Spark Studios!
We are still trying to staff our music recording studio, but our podcast studio is ready to go! If you'd like to register for a slot, please fill out the form below or at https://www.sewardparkcampuslibrary.org/studio.

The Moth
The Moth is an amazing storytelling organization that looks to empower people with the ability to tell their stories in order to build empathy and community! We'd love to host a residency here!
Are you:
- In 10-12th grade?
- Able to commit to 2 hrs a week afterschool for 8 weeks?
- Willing to share your story (don't worry, they'll teach you how)?
- Wanting to build a community of peers?
Then please reach out below and let us know! We'd love to have you. In the meantime, check out these amazing links and videos to see other high school students telling their stories.
Yu&Me Books
We have a wonderful partnership with Yu&Me Books in Chinatown and we frequently host evening author talks! Please check https://www.sewardparkcampuslibrary.org/events to stay tuned to upcoming events!
