NES Parent Newsletter 1/20/26
January 20, 2026

Dear NES Families,
We were so excited to celebrate our students this week during our awards ceremonies! We proudly recognized our kindergarten, first, and second grade students for their first semester awards, as well as our third, fourth, and fifth grade students for their 2nd nine weeks awards. It was truly wonderful to have families on campus to celebrate students’ hard work, growth, and success. Thank you for partnering with us and helping make these moments so special.
Next week, we will hold our SAC meeting on January 22nd at 3:30 PM in the Media Center. We look forward to receiving feedback and input on how we can continue to grow and improve at NES. Your voice matters, and we appreciate your involvement and support.
Students are settling back into their everyday school routines, and lots of meaningful learning is already taking place across our campus. Please remember that there is no school on Monday, January 19th. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, January 20th.
We are also excited to share that our new reading initiative, Dunkin's Reading Challenge, will be starting soon! Some students have already begun working on independent reading at home, and the excitement is contagious as they eagerly await their first pack of trading cards. More information will be coming home with your student soon. Be sure to watch the video linked below, which was shared during announcements—we have loved seeing our students’ enthusiasm and joy for reading!
Just a reminder, during morning walk-ins for drop off, please be sure to use the crosswalk to cross from the parking lot the building, this helps keep our drop off line clear and moving. Parents must be off campus when the 8:10AM bell rings and instruction begins. Thank you again for helping us encourage our students in the morning and keeping everything running smoothly. It truly has been wonderful seeing the excitement from students getting to walk in with their families!
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us build a love for learning with your students each day.
With gratitude and positivity,
Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal

Dunkin's Reading Challenge
Get Ready for Dunkin!
We are excited to invite parents to get ready to read with our Dunkin's Reading Challenge initiative! Students should come home with a reading log with a parent letter on the back. Parents can sign the log for every 15 minutes the child spends reading at home. When the log is full, students will turn it in to their teacher. Every time a student turns in a full log, their teacher will give them a mystery pack of Dunkin-themed Trading Cards. Students collect Dunkin Trading Cards in order to win prizes through drawings and other events. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or our Instructional Coach, Mrs. Bockoras at candace.bockoras@okeeschools.org .
