- Brian Kingsley visit- Mr. Kingsley will be here around 1:30-2:30 pm on Monday. I just wanted to give you a heads up that we may be visiting some classrooms.
- Veteran's Day Breakfast- Our breakfast is scheduled for Nov. 11. Here are some notes for now:
- If classrooms are interested in helping with kid-made decorations or letters, please let me know soon.
- We also have some Veterans that are willing to speak to classrooms afterward (sometime after 10:00). If you are interested in having one of them speak to your class, please let me know soon.
- I'll send a list of students that will be participating by Tuesday. We will call down those students around 9:10 after they have had a chance to check in with you. They should return by 10:00.
- Sprint Cycles- For licensed staff, we are in our second sprint cycle now and looking at iReady and EL Education curriculum usage during our walkthroughs. This is part of our district's pulse check for curriculum implementation and for feedback for our Curriculum Department to learn how to best support next steps. For non-classroom staff, we will be observing your use of any district-adopted curriculums and use of routines to support maximizing learning time.

PSD Lockdown Drill Week is November 9th – November 12th
November 3, 2026
Dear PSD families:
All Poudre School District schools will participate in Lockdown Drill Week between November 9th – 12th as part of the district’s ongoing safety and security efforts. During the drill, students and staff are directed to a safe location inside the building. Exterior and interior doors, windows, and access points are closed and locked.
Schools won’t know beforehand when their school’s specific drill is set to occur during the week. At the start of a drill, school staff will announce that a lockdown drill is underway. They will emphasize that it is only a drill and that there is not an active threat to the school.
You can also expect to see a heavier-than-usual law enforcement presence at the schools when drills occur. PSD is hosting the drills in partnership with multiple law enforcement agencies. After the drill, school staff, members of PSD’s Security Department, and law enforcement officers will review how the drill went.
PSD follows national best practices so that drills are conducted in a manner that’s age appropriate and considers the impact of trauma. However, if your student(s) has experienced feeling stressed because of past drills or experiences, we encourage you to reach out to your school, so staff are aware and can talk with you about the ways your child may be supported. If you want to opt your child out of the lockdown drill next week, please contact your school’s front office and ask to speak with the office manager, who will assist with that process.
Information about Safety and Security in PSD is available here. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and participating in these drills together builds upon our shared culture of safety.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Poudre School District
SST check list
Student Success Team (SST), formerly MTSS
While the name has changed, the process is the same. If you have concerns about a student, let someone on the SST Team know. The committee members are the same, too. Our goal is to support student success through data analysis, family partnerships, and brainstorming. With it being conference time, you may have students who are on your concern list. If so, connect with Butterscotch, Kim, or Megan and use this checklist to help.
Megan and Kim are helping as SST liaisons. Megan focuses on K, 1, & 2, and Kim on 3, 4, & 5. Throughout the year, Kim and Megan will check in with you if you have students working with the SST team before and/or after meetings. Feel free to connect with them if you have any concerns, too. You can always connect with Butterscotch, too. 🙂
