A message from the principal
Happy Friday CY families,
A few items for you:
- Students are expected to wear their ID lanyards every day because they are used on the bus and in the cafeteria.
- Roof project - You may notice several vehicles and construction material on our campus. This construction project is scheduled to be completed sometime in November. Please exercise caution and patience if you are visiting the school.
- Our school office closes at 4:15. If you are needing to locate a school bus you may call (317) 789-6221. If you cannot get through to them, you can Parent Square message me and/or Mrs. Livesay for assistance.
Other reminders:
- Our students are expected to follow the Perry Township Schools Dress Code.
- Your student should take time to read at home. Research shows that reading just 20 minutes a day outside of school helps kids develop critical reading skills.
- Please join our PTO!

Uniform requirements are as follows:
- Solid color collared shirt (with sleeves) or turtleneck, tucked in.
- Black, khaki, navy or earthtone bottoms, no denim. No overt or distracting holes, rips, cuts, or frays are permitted. (Pants or skirts must be worn at the waist)
- Knee-length pants. Shorts may be worn up until Fall Break and after Spring Break.
- Dresses, skirts, shorts, and jumpers must be near knee length.
Attendance
The state of Indiana has an attendance law. Senate Enrolled Act 282 requires students to be in regular attendance. It also places measures on schools to have more monitoring in place and holds families more accountable for getting their kids to school and on time.
If your child is going to be ABSENT from school for any reason, please CALL (317) 789-3402.
In addition, please provide an excuse note to the school for ALL appointments that your child may have during school hours or if they are arriving late or leaving early for an appointment. Thank you!

Visitors & Volunteers
Visitors
All visitors must present a picture ID and scan their ID with the front office staff. This scan will check the National Sex Offender Registry but a full background check is not necessary. The visitor background check is free of charge.
A visitor is anyone who:
- Has lunch with their child
- Has a meeting with the principal
- Has a meeting with the teacher
- Guest speakers are considered visitors
Volunteers
A volunteer is anyone who:
- Attends a classroom party
- Assists in a classroom such as tutors/helpers/room parents
- PTA volunteers
- Attends a field trip with their student (for overnight field trips, please see below)
A SafeVisitor volunteer background check is $15.95 and is valid for three years. (These background checks can take three to six days to process, so please plan accordingly.) The background check is a national screening process that includes a Social Security and address verification and checks the following: National Criminal Database, National Sex Offender Registry, Statewide Criminal, County Criminal, and Federal Criminal Courts. This background check also includes the Arrest Alert program, which will notify Perry Township Schools of arrests after the initial background check has been approved.
Once your background check is approved, you will receive an email from info@safevisitorsolutions.com with a badge in PDF form. You can print it and carry it with you, save it to your phone as a picture, or save the email with the approval and the barcode.
