Eighth grade students will have the opportunity to have a small snack at the beginning of SOAR/Hawk Talk each day. With this privilege, there are a few guidelines that students must remember.

Students may only have a small, healthy snack (examples: piece of fruit, carrots, granola bar, etc.) If it is not, teachers may inform the student that what he/she brought will have to wait until lunch to be eaten.

Students are not permitted to bring their lunch with them to class at this time. Their snack must truly be a snack.

Students must be able to finish their snack in the amount of time allotted by the classroom teacher.

Students may not share or trade with other students.

Students must clean up after themselves and make sure all trash is thrown away.

No food is permitted to be consumed in the hallway.

Student Supervision at FCPS Athletic Contests Student Supervision at FCPS Athletic Contests

Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) is proud of the way our communities come together at athletic contests to support our student-athletes, marching bands, and other student groups. These events are an important part of our school communities, providing opportunities for elementary and middle school students to engage with and support their future high schools.

To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees, parents and guardians are reminded of the following systemwide guidelines and expectations when attending FCPS athletic events:

  • Elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by a paying parent/guardian. Students may not be dropped off at athletic events.
  • Parents/guardians are expected to remain at the event for its duration and are responsible for supervising their children at all times.
  • Elementary and middle school students must remain in the bleachers, except when accompanied by an adult to concessions or restrooms.
  • Activities such as ball playing, tag, running, or general horseplay are not permitted at FCPS athletic events.
  • Failure to comply with these expectations may result in the loss of attendance privileges for current and/or future athletic contests.

Your support in maintaining a safe and positive environment ensures that athletic events remain centered on celebrating our FCPS student-athletes and performers. The direct supervision of younger children is greatly appreciated.

For additional information, please visit the Attending Athletic Events page on FCPS Athletics.
