A Note From Mrs. French

Please return Library books on Mon, Nov 17 so we are prepared to check out new books on Tues, Nov 18.

We will travel to the Akron Zoo on Tuesday, November 18! All children will need a disposable packed lunch from home unless you preordered a packed lunch from the cafeteria on the field trip permission slip. Please dress your child for the weather. We will be outside most of the day.

Our first Science DZ of the school year is Tuesday, December 9. We need parent volunteers to help run the stations. There is also an opportunity to donate needed consumable items that need replenished.

Thank you!

Language Arts

Civilizations have fundamental features, including cities and government, forms of communication, and religion. The Tigris and Euphrates rivers were vital to the establishment of Mesopotamia, from which we received the earliest form of writing and first codification of laws. Egypt was founded on the Nile river, and its contributions include hieroglyphics, pharaohs, pyramids, and the significance of mummification.

Math

Your child is learning to use doubles facts to help them add. We continue our work with familiar doubles facts like 3+3=6 and extend our knowledge to recognizing and solving doubles facts with totals up to 20, like 8+8=16. We will use the doubles facts they know to help them find totals for doubles plus 1 (or doubles minus 1) facts, where one addend is 1 more or 1 less than the other, like 3+4=7 and 9+8=17.
