Weekly News
Note from Mrs. Brennan
Dear Centennial families/guardians and community,
We entered the weekend after having a wonderful experience with the Bald Eagle Boogie! We are especially grateful to our PTA who made the event possible. While they are still tallying the final amount of money that was raised, please remember that PTA is collecting money through October 3. Students LOVED the event, and we are so honored for all of you for supporting Centennial Elementary in the ways you do!
A few repeat reminders:
- Please remember that the hug and go lanes on the west and east sides of the building are just that! If you are needing to park to help your child get out / off of the vehicle, please use the EAST parking lot and walk your child through the crosswalk! It is important that we are keeping all students safe!
- As the temperatures become a little cooler, it’s important that students have an extra layer for the sudden temperature changes that we experience! We also keep a very close eye on any weather changes and inform staff immediately if we need to switch to an indoor recess plan!
Did you know that the proposed $99 million bond, placed on this November's ballot by the Board of Education, would provide funding for key project at Centennial Elementary School? To learn more about the proposed bond, please visit ces.tsd.org/bond. Please note that this bond, if passed, will not raise taxes.
Reminders:
Bald Eagle Boogie Walkathon Registration Link: https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/register?school_uuid=689ce4eeb18c3 Donations will be accepted until Friday, 10/3.
- Fall PTA Membership Drive: Our school-wide goal is to hit 115 members by Friday, September 26th. Classrooms who meet their membership goal will receive a popsicle party and their teacher will be entered to win a $50 Amazon gift card for their classroom! Folks can snag an individual or family membership via this link: https://ceslovelandpta.givebacks.com/shop?category=29613
Finally, if your child is late to school, please be sure to walk your student(s) to the front door. Our office staff will welcome them to school and ensure they get to class as quickly as possible. If a parent does not walk them to the door, it is an unexcused tardy/absence.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Brennan

Attendance
A student's attendance is crucial for their success as a student. Their consistent presence in class provides the teacher with the necessary interaction to assist the student's growth in learning.
We continue to STRIVE FOR 95% weekly positive school attendance!
What if your child had perfect attendance? Or close...let's turn this trend of missing school around
and ensure students are only absent for necessary illnesses or emergency situations.
Excused absences are defined as illness, death in the family, family emergencies, or other special circumstances. Students should not enter schools if they are showing symptoms of illness.
We respectfully request that appointments be scheduled outside of school hours
and that you use days that school is not in session for family activities and vacations.
Last week we were at 94.71% attendance!
Please call the Centennial attendance line at 613-5890 to report any absences.
Additionally, there is an auto-dialer that will call you to confirm or inform you that your child is absent on a given day if you do not call in to report the absence.
These phone calls are automatically generated.
Parents are able to enter an absence on their own digitally. Please go here for instructions. Absences are subject for excusal based upon the number of absences accrued.
A change in attendance protocols this year will be seen when a student reaches 10 or more absences. At 10 absences, an in person or virtual meeting will be held between the student's family and building administrator.
Yearbooks
Legal Paperwork
If your household or family has legal paperwork for your student, please be sure that we have the most up to date information on file. This is critical so that we are able to follow the plans for safety. Thank you! Please call Misty in the office at 970-613-5801.
Instructional Fee 25/26
An instructional fee of $32 has been applied to your student's fees and are applied each academic year. The fee can be paid online or in person at Centennial by a check, cash or card. To pay online, please use your parent portal. Please see below for more information on this fee.
The instructional materials fee charged to an elementary school student is based on a combination of the purchase price and normal life expectancy of texts (used in intermediate grades), the actual cost of workbooks (used in primary grades) and consumable materials. The instructional materials fee is charged on a per-student basis and goes into the district’s general fund for distribution to the curriculum budget for text purchases and schools for additional texts, replacement materials or consumable materials.
Fees will be waived for students qualifying for free or reduced-price school meals under the Federal Free or Reduced-Price Meal Program or who have a demonstrated economic hardship. A waiver of fees may be requested from the school principal or designee. Fees will be prorated for students coming on or going off the meal assistance program during the school year.
Important Dates
Please plan non-illness related student absences in alignment with days we are not in session.
Every Friday is Spirit day...please wear your red, white, or blue OR any of your Centennial shirts!

Book Fair
Volunteers Needed! Please see your email for volunteer information! Registered volunteers only please.
E Wallet
eWallet is the convenient, secure digital payment option for the Fair. It's the easy way for kids to shop independently for books they want to read, and easy for others to contribute funds. You can set up an eWallet from your school’s Fair homepage.
Health Office Information
If your student needs medication outside of the action plan (i.e. ibuprofen, tylenol, benadryl only, ect.) see TSD permission for medication. Please reach out to the health office with any questions or concerns at 970-613-5802.
Heads Up!
Now that school is back in, it is a good time to remind parents to be on the alert for head lice. Head lice is a common childhood condition. All places where children get together are places where head lice can be transferred. Clean hair and home are no guarantee that head lice will not find your child. Please take a moment now and periodically throughout the year, to check your child’s hair for nits (eggs), which can usually be seen long before lice can be located. Nits are small, white to tan particles found in the hair that look a lot like dandruff, except that dandruff is loose and can be brushed from the hair, whereas nits are attached to the hair shaft and cannot be easily removed. Lice are very small (flea sized) and do not like light, so they can be hard to find. If your child is experiencing itching of the scalp or you see something in the hair and are not sure what it is, feel free to stop by the health office and allow us to check.
Sincerely,
School Nurse
School Breakfast and Lunch Information
Dear Parents/Guardians:
For the 2025/26 school year, the Thompson School District will provide access to no-cost meals for all students through the Healthy School Meals for All program.
Research shows students perform better at school when they are not hungry. By providing access to breakfast and lunch for all students at no cost, we better support their learning.
Although all students will receive access to no-cost meals, it's still important for households to provide their income information when requested. Gathering this information allows the Thompson School District to receive the state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible for Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted or waived school fees, class materials, utilities support, and more. Providing household income information ensures you and your school receive all available financial support.
Our school meals follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. You can be confident your children are getting quality school meals while saving your family time and money.

Pet and Tobacco Products are Prohibited
In keeping our campus safe. Please remember the following:
- All pets, of any kind, are not allowed on school grounds before, during, or after school. We love furry friends, however, to ensure that all students are in a safe environment, please refrain from bringing your family pets to school, especially during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
- Please also remember that all tobacco products including cigarettes and vaping mechanisms are prohibited on school grounds. We appreciate your cooperation.

Family Resources
KidsPak
Childhood hunger is a hidden epidemic in America, with 1 in 3 children in Larimer County meeting the criteria for food insecurity. A quickly rising cost of living has narrowed the financial safety margin for many families, where just one large unexpected expense can cause a financial crisis. While there is a safety net of food resources in our country, over 30% of individuals experiencing need will not qualify for those benefits.
Colorado has created a safe haven in our schools, but the weekends and summers continue to be a time of need for too many youth in our local community. Currently, KidsPak serves with 3 separate programs to address stress points in the current food safety net.
At Centennial Elementary, and other schools in the district, we request Kidspak bags each week to distribute to families. If you would like to receive a bag, or multiple bags, please contact Misty in the office at 970-613-5801.
