Houser Family Newsletter
January 2026
Dear Houser Families,
Please read this newsletter thoroughly for updates!
As we begin a new semester, I wanted to share how excited I am to have your children in our building. I cherish every hug, wave, high five, and "Hi Mrs. Tomon!!" I receive from your child.
Our goals are to ensure your child feels welcome, secure, loved, and like they are growing every day here at Houser!!
As always, please let me know if you need anything. I am here to ensure you and your child feel safe and ready to come to school each day!
Together, we will soar high!

New Allergen Update
Conroe ISD Child Nutrition will begin offering a Pollock Fish Wedge and Fish Stick Basket for all grade levels beginning Wednesday, February 18, 2026, and then monthly until the end of the school year. The allergens will be fish and wheat.
If your child is allergic to fish or wheat, please communicate with our campus nurse, Donna Maier.
SMART Tag Reminders
We want to remind families about the importance of students bringing their SMART Tags every day. These tags are not only used for transportation, but also for recording when a student arrives at school and for purchasing breakfast. It is extremely important that students keep up with their tags and have them with them daily. These tags are required for every student in Conroe ISD.
All students were provided with a tag at the beginning of the school year, and some students have been given additional tags to ensure they have one available. Beginning November 5th, each student will be provided with only one replacement tag at no cost. After that, parents will need to pay $2 per replacement tag that must be printed for their child.
Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and safe process for all of our students!

Houser Family Year at a Glance
Based on feedback we received on the end of year parent and family survey, we have created a "Family Year at a Glance." Please understand that some of these event dates are subject to change, but we hope that having a calendar for the major events in the year will help with planning work schedules, childcare coverage, etc.

Car Rider Map and Directions
Important Information for Car Rider Line:
- Please enter the car rider line from Oak Ridge School Road in two lanes and merge into one once you reach the parking lot. Please do not take a LEFT into the car rider line. All cars will need to enter from the right lane. Buses for some students will enter the car rider line and go straight. Do not follow them as you will get stuck behind them as they are unloading. See the map above for assistance.
A few reminders:
- Doors will open at 7:30 am.
- You may not walk your child across the parking lot. If you attempt to walk your child across the parking lot in the morning, you will be redirected to the car rider line.
- Breakfast will be open until 7:55 am each day for students who need to eat at school. If your child qualifies for free lunch, breakfast is provided for free. If your child does not qualify for free lunch, your child will have to pay for breakfast. If you have not already done so, you will need to apply for free & reduced lunches this year. Applications can be found online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/.
- Have your car rider sign visible so that the person calling names can see it easily. Holding it up or having it attached to the front visor is a great help.
- If you do not have a sign, please have your id ready and pull into an available parking spot.
- Please pull all the way up to the first empty space! Your child will be delivered to your car.
- If your child needs assistance buckling up, please move past the last space in the car rider line before buckling your child so the line does not get backed up.
- No one is allowed to walk up and retrieve their child for car rider dismissal. You will be asked to return to your car and enter the car rider line.

SMART Tags
Conroe ISD uses the SMARTtag™ ID system to increase security and efficiency across our campuses.
All students will received a new SMART tag™ ID for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note that these are crucial to bus safety, and should remain on your child's backpack for the entire school year. If your child changes backpacks during the year, the tag needs to be placed on their new backpack.
Learn how the system works and find FAQs at www.conroeisd.net/transportation/smart-tag/
