March Musings
Read Across America Week
At the beginning of March, our school celebrated Read Across America Week in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Students and staff participated in fun literacy activities, themed spirit days, and classroom read-alouds that highlighted the joy of reading. Throughout the week, students explored a variety of books and were encouraged to develop a lifelong love of reading. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the importance of literacy and the creativity that stories inspire.
Johnny Appleseed Day
On Johnny Appleseed Day, students learned about Johnny Appleseed, whose real name was John Chapman. Students read stories about his life and learned why apples were important to people long ago. In class, they did fun activities like drawing pictures of Johnny Appleseed with his pot hat and planting seeds to see how apple trees grow. Learning about Johnny Appleseed helped students understand history, nature, and how one person’s actions could make a big difference.
Mario Day - March 10th
Grab a power-up, stomp some Goombas, and save the day because it’s always a good day at Phoenix to say “Let’s-a go!” ⭐️
Popcorn Lover's Day
Celebrated on March 11th, students engaged in Language Arts activities based on the popular snack. 🍿
World Kindness Day
On World Kindness Day, students celebrated by creating “kind mail” for their classmates, teachers, and staff. Each student wrote thoughtful notes filled with compliments, encouragement, and gratitude. The colorful letters were delivered throughout the school, spreading smiles and reminding everyone how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day.
St. Patrick's Day
As we celebrated Saint Patrick's Day, our students enjoyed a variety of festive activities throughout the day. They created colorful crafts, learned about Irish traditions, and participated in fun classroom games that brought plenty of laughter and excitement. Many students proudly wore green and shared stories about the holiday while working together on creative projects. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and teamwork as they embraced the spirit of the celebration and made the day both memorable and fun for everyone.
Global Recycling Day
Global Recycling Day is observed every year on March 18th to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and its role in preserving the planet for future generations. Established in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation, the day highlights how recycling contributes to environmental sustainability and encourages individuals, communities, and governments to take action.
