Celebrating Success, Preparing for What’s Next
As another incredible school year comes to a close, Alamogordo Public Schools is celebrating the many accomplishments of our students, staff, and families while already preparing for an exciting year ahead. From a memorable graduation ceremony honoring the Class of 2026 to outstanding achievements in athletics, student organizations, and academic programs, there is so much to celebrate across our district. While summer break is officially underway, APS remains active throughout June and July with free summer meal opportunities for children, registration for all new and returning students, summer programs, and opportunities for students to stay connected and engaged. We encourage families to take time to recharge this summer while also staying informed and preparing for another successful school year ahead.
That's Awesome!
Celebrating Student Excellence
At last month’s APS Board of Education meeting, several outstanding student organizations were recognized for their impressive accomplishments at the state and national levels.
Students from Chaparral Middle School, Holloman Middle School, and Alamogordo High School were honored for their success at the 38th Annual New Mexico MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) Competition Day. Competing in the “Build a Better New Mexico” challenge, these students demonstrated exceptional creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Holloman Middle School earned 2nd place overall in the state and 1st place in the Prepared Design category, while Alamogordo High School captured 1st place in the Design Brief component at the MESA USA National Engineering Design Competition. Chaparral Middle School also brought home honors with a 3rd-place finish in the Engineering Financial Freedom event.
The Board also recognized the outstanding achievements of the Alamogordo High School HOSA–Future Health Professionals chapter. This year, 41 HOSA members competed at the State Leadership Conference in Albuquerque, earning an impressive 26 top-five placements, including 13 top-three finishes. Their success spans a wide range of healthcare-related competitions, showcasing the knowledge, skill, and professionalism of our future healthcare leaders. As a result of their outstanding performances, 16 students qualified to advance to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis, where they will represent both Alamogordo High School and the State of New Mexico on the international stage.
Congratulations to all of our MESA and HOSA students for these remarkable accomplishments. We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and excellence they continue to demonstrate, and we extend our appreciation to the advisors, teachers, and families who support their success.
