REMINDER: STUDENT HEALTH CHECKS

As part of the Health and Safety Plan, it is important that all parents/guardians check their child/children for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 daily. We asked that you conduct a routine, daily health check prior to sending your child to school. This health check should include the following:

  • Temperature check
  • Symptom screening

Please reference the below symptom screening tool when completing your morning health checks.

A note from our nurses: A fever is always a reason to stay home! When in doubt - please stay home! This will help keep our students and staff safe!

Gym Class

  • All at-home students on Mondays through Thursdays should do “Today’s Lesson” on the Canvas Physical Education page during their PE/Gym time.
  • All students on Fridays should attend a Zoom meeting/class by clicking on “Zoom Link – Click Here” on the Canvas Physical Education page during PE/Gym time.
  • All students should be prepared to be outside for PE/Gym when they are in school and they have PE/Gym.

Mrs. Leonhauser

Starting next Monday 10/12 students will be allowed to start checking out library books. Also, some students may still have a library book out from the beginning of the year. This is OKAY and will not prevent a student from checking out another one. However, we are still encouraging them to bring back their books from March ASAP. Here is the list below of everything we are doing when students check out a book:

Neshaminy School District Student book borrowing will begin on October 12th with the following safety protocols in place:

  • Students need to follow social distancing criteria.
  • Students need to wear masks.
  • Students will sanitize hands upon entry and exit to the library.
  • Students will not browse the library shelves for book selection.
  • Students will select a book from a small selection provided by sight only…this is the time to judge a book by its cover.
  • Students will check out the book to take home and return on their next library visit.
  • Gloves will be available at the building level via the principal for Library Media Specialists and aids.
  • Returned books will be isolated and quarantined for five days.

*****If you DO NOT want your child to take home a library book, please email Angela Leonhauser BEFORE next Monday 10/12/20: aleonhauser@neshaminy.org

Mrs. Rydzewski

The first graders in Mrs. Rydzewski’s class took a virtual field trip this week through “Skype in the Classroom.” Blue Team students interacted with our Animal Expert host from the classroom, while Red Team students joined from home. Through the magic of ZOOM, all students had the opportunity to attend a live presentation about Animal Adaptations, ask questions, and speak with the presenter who was at a zoo in Billings, Montana. The students encountered a salamander, a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, and a snake. It was a fun and educational experience
