Parents across Illinois once again have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of your child’s school as it relates to the important elements of school effectiveness.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by the University of Chicago. All survey responses will be kept confidential. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 20 percent of parents take the survey. If you have children attending more than one school, we ask that you complete the survey for each school.

To take this short survey:

1. Visit 5Essentials Survey Link

2. Type and select “Dupage” as "County." (The county is the location of the school district's main office.)

3. Type your school's name into the "School" field and select your school.

The survey will be open through March 28, 2025.

Kindergarten through Eighth-grade students are invited to participate in one OR two weeks of STEM Camp. This fun, hands-on STEM experience will provide students with activities from two different modules from either Camp Invention or Invention Project depending upon students' grade. Just as before, our STEM Camp will be taught by Indian Prairie certified teachers.

We anticipate that each camp will sell out, so register early to ensure your student has a spot to participate in STEM Camp 2025!

Questions? If you have any questions about this program or experience, please contact the STEM Camp program coordinator, Elizabeth Kaleta, at elizabeth_kaleta@ipsd.org.

Explore eclipses with the WVHS Planetarium on Friday March 7th. Last year we put on eclipse glasses to observe a solar eclipse as the moon’s shadow swept across the US. In a few days, we will observe a total lunar eclipse on March 13-14. Eclipse glasses are not required for a lunar eclipse. Programs start at 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday March 7th. Tickets are available online at store.ipsd.org . Sold-out programs will disappear from the webstore. Visit ipsd.org/planetarium for more information about Family Nights. Email questions to stephanie_rybka@ipsd.org. Follow the WVHS Planetarium on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram for upcoming programs and local celestial events such as the total lunar eclipse.
