Positive Mindset & Preparation

A positive mindset makes a HUGE difference! Thank you for encouraging words and efforts to reduce stress during assessment weeks. This is an absolutely AMAZING group of students. To help us strive for success, thank you for a healthy dinner, good nights rest, and timely arrival to school as tests will start promptly as scheduled above. If possible, arrive a little early if your student plans to eat breakfast at school to give them enough time to enjoy breakfast before the morning bell. To reduce the possibility of distractions during the test, please encourage young students to leave all cell phones and smart watches at home or completely turned off in their backpacks prior to dropping them off at school. We will provide gum or a mint during the test--the minty flavor helps us focus! (However, after the test all gum must be deposited in the trash because, other than during a test, gum is not allowed at HCCS per the student handbook. Look how pretty our carpets are!)

"April Showers Bring May Flowers" "April Showers Bring May Flowers"

🌷The idiom "April showers bring May flowers" has two meanings. First, the rainy weather in April will encourage flowers to bloom in May. The second meaning is figurative, or metaphorical, and it means that although we are going through a rough time (like rain), there can be a period of happiness and joy (like flowers).

We have a lot going on in class this time of year. This saying reminds me to find those moments of joy and try to create more of them--even though we have a busy schedule. Students may need a little extra sleep, a few more hugs, or maybe a favorite meal to help keep them motivated as we navigate through our ISAT tests, music performances, field trips and more!

Upcoming 5th Grade Field Trip April 25th

Thank you for turning in all student permission forms. We feel incredibly grateful for so many parents willing to chaperone! Please, watch for an invitation to a brief chaperone meeting to help parents become familiar with the schedule, Boise Art Museum (BAM) guidelines, and Wassmuth Center for Human Rights guidelines. HCCS does require an additional form signed by chaperones prior to attending the field trip. Please, also be advised of the following request from the BAM: "Chaperons cannot bring infants, younger children, siblings, or additional adults with them on the visit."
