Ott's Outlook
July 2024
You have heard me say many times that one of the things that makes Temple ISD so unique is the relationship we have with our Temple community. Like with all relationships, ours is one that has been strengthened over time through transparent and consistent communication as we have demonstrated our commitment to the children and families we have been entrusted to serve. We have also developed a high level of trust with our community and business partners as we understand that it is essential that our school district is reflective of local values.
Starting these relationships can be easy but sustaining strong relationships over time requires them to evolve and benefit all. One of the ways our district seeks to do this is by engaging stakeholders. There are two key components of engagement: being informed and being involved. As a district, it is our responsibility to make sure that you have accurate, transparent, and timely information and we provide this in multiple ways. From the Board of Trustees Listening Circles with different community groups to our annual 35+ community updates to media coverage and social media platforms, you don’t have to look hard to find out what is happening in our district. We are constantly pushing out information to our community so that you remain aware and informed.
We also provide multiple opportunities for stakeholders to be involved with the district through various partnerships. We are blessed with strong support across the Wildcat community and you see evidence of some of these business and industry partnerships celebrated frequently. But I am often asked by individuals and smaller groups about how they can support our students and programs. There are a variety of ways to partner such as serving on the District Educational Improvement Committee, signing up to be a Wildcat Mentor, and/or sponsoring events, joining your child’s PTO/Booster Club and/or the Temple Education Foundation. These provide a brief overview of the range of partnership opportunities that exist - there are many more.
I challenge you to take that first step of committing to being informed and maybe even that next step of getting involved. This is how we get better - together - as we all share the common goal of preparing our children for their futures.
Wishing you all a safe and blessed summer!
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
