📚 November Focus: Attendance Matters!

As we head into November, we would like to place an extra emphasis on student attendance. Although November is a shorter school month, every instructional day matters! ⏰📖 Each day students are at school provides valuable opportunities to learn, build relationships, participate in classroom activities, and make progress toward their academic goals.

We appreciate your partnership in making sure students arrive at school on time and attend regularly throughout the month. Every day counts, and every minute of learning makes a difference! 🌟

What is Chronic Absenteeism?
Chronic absenteeism means a student misses 10% or more of the school year—that’s about 2 days per month or 18 days in a year. 😟
Missing school can make it harder for students to keep up with lessons, build friendships, and feel confident in class. 💛

Tips to Improve Attendance:
✅ Set a consistent bedtime – kids need enough sleep to be ready for school. 🛏️
✅ Plan morning routines – pack backpacks and lunches the night before. 🎒🥪
✅ Schedule appointments wisely – try to make doctor or dentist visits outside of school hours. 🩺
✅ Talk about the importance of school – celebrate attendance and learning milestones! 🎉
✅ Reach out if needed – if your child is struggling with illness, transportation, or anxiety, let the school know. We’re here to help! 🤝

💛 Become a Valley View Volunteer! 💛

If you’d like to help out at school, please click the link to complete the volunteer application. ✨

Volunteer Tiers:

Tier 1 – You’ll volunteer under the supervision of a school employee and are not expected to volunteer regularly. 👩‍🏫

Tier 2 – You’ll volunteer regularly and may not always be supervised by a school employee while on campus. 🏫

📅 September Volunteer Badge Prep
This month, Valley View is preparing volunteer badges for families who have been cleared and those in the process. Toward the end of September, badges will be distributed to Tier 1 and Tier 2 families who are cleared.

✅ Before You Volunteer:

1. Receive your badge – a photo is needed to get your badge. 📸

2. Raptor ID clearance – make sure it’s updated monthly. Ms. Norma will initial your badge when you check in with a valid ID. 🆔

3. Schedule your visit – coordinate with your child’s teacher. Teachers will log expected volunteers, and the office will cross-check. 📋

   • If you haven’t set a time, send a ParentSquare message to the teacher.

4. Classroom needs – Please note that not all teachers may need volunteers. Our focus is on keeping classroom disruptions minimal for a healthy learning environment. 🌟

Valley View has a YouTube. channel If you click above, you'll be able to follow our staff doing the morning announcements on YouTube. Everyday we will upload our announcements for students to view and we welcome families to join.
