From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
As we wrap up a wonderful school year at Salt Creek Primary, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families for your support, partnership, and involvement throughout the school year. I’m incredibly proud of the growth our students have shown—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Congratulations to our Pre-K students on their Step-Up Day today! We are so excited to welcome 2nd grade to Salt Creek Primary next year. I am thrilled that all of our students will be returning along with some new friends next year. This move makes us the largest school in District 48! We are going to have ton of fun as a PK-2 building, I can’t wait!
Class placement letters for the 2025–2026 school year will be mailed out to families in August. Around that time I will also share building updates! With the construction and adjustments to our parking lot, it will change how we operate with arrival and dismissal practices, bus, and parent pick-ups. We will know more once construction is done, so stay tuned for those changes come the start of the year.
In addition, we are on track to be completed with all construction by the start of the school year, but as we enter the crunch time in August, we may need to adjust meet the teacher. But any changes will be communicated. Early in the school year we will have a school-wide night to come see all the new inside and outside the building for all of our families. Stay tuned for that after we return!
Finally, we hope to see everyone tonight at our End-of-Year Bash and Book Fair, from 5–7 PM at Swartz School.
Last reminders:
Monday 6/2 - Field Day - Students will enjoy field day activities on our last full day of school!
Tuesday 6/3 - Last day of school (10:50am dismissal)
Have a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer!
-Mrs. Scanlan
Important Notice for 2025–2026 School Year Registration
Students who are NOT returning or NOT fully registered in Skyward for the 2025–2026 school year will be required to turn in their Chromebooks and chargers. To avoid turning in your device for the summer, you must be fully registered by May 23rd. Please log in to Skyward, click on the Returning Student section, update your information, and submit it as soon as possible. Just a reminder, there are no registration fees this year!
Thank you for your prompt attention! If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact your school's office at 630-832-6122.
Important PreK Changes for next year!
Hello PK families,
Salt Creek's numbers and grade level needs are shifting next year. Because of this, there will only be three sections of Preschool to start the 2025-26 school year. Right now, those classes are NOT full, but we encourage you to make sure your student is registered to secure your spot. Once full, there will be a waitlist.
There will be ONE AM preschool session and TWO PM preschool sessions next year.
Another exciting update, is that students in preschool that will be entering Kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year, will have the opportunity to attend a beginning level STEM class (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in our BRAND NEW STEM classroom! We are excited to begin expanding STEM opportunities to our preschool students.
(This class will only be offered to students in the PM session.)
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the preschool team or administration.
Summer Chromebook Information
Summer Chromebook Use
It is important to note, the District will not be actively monitoring the activity until school resumes and students will only be allowed to access district approved educational materials. This only applies to students in grades 1 through 7 who are fully registered for the 25-26 school year. Summer technology will not be an option for our current kindergarten students, as those Chromebooks remain in Kindergarten each year.
We will not be able to do repairs throughout the summer, so if your child's device has any issues during this time, please email their school's administrative assistant and principal. We can work together on a solution that works best for you.
If you would like to opt-out of having your child keep their device for the summer, please email Gerrie Aulisa at gaulisa@saltcreek48.org. If no response is received, and your child is fully registered, then your child will be sent home with their Chromebook.

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
