Agenda for meeting provided by Sherry Pianalto

  • A Google Form was created for input and questions so that classified staff can submit concerns and questions to the committee.
  • Damon will amend our form with an add on feature to direct the questions via email to the proper department to answer questions. This will mean feedback and questions can be addressed promptly. Maribel & Damon will work together to make this happen.
  • Committee passed motion to approve the google form
  • The committee discussed the best ways to get information out to Classified Staff.

  • Remind 101, Thrillshare or S'more to send out minutes
  • Maribel presented the Google website for the PPC she created
  • Discussion of how to get more involvement
    • Employee spotlight
    • Freebies
    • Email information to Maribel if you have things to add for the SMORE

  • The Google form was shared

    • A suggestion was made to update form to have all departments added as a “drop down” to have better data

  • Committee passed motion to approve the smore form

  • Committee passed the motion for use of the shared drive to house all documents and be available to all staff.

  • Damon shared that all classified staff will receive PD from Rusty Johnson by the end of Feb Emergency procedures, Catapult, Run Hide Fight. After everyone is trained, next year the training will be done twice/year.

    • Every building will have a safety walk through once a month. Damon shared the walk through information and how to get training.

  • Questions from classified staff members:

  • Why don’t part time custodial staff get raises?
      • Answer: They do get step raises, but they must have worked at least half of the school year to qualify.

  • What is the cost of replacing name badges?
      • $25 per Jeremy White. The badges are pricey to replace because they have special components to open doors.

      • The committee voiced concerns that not everyone is being charged for a lost badge.
      • It is policy that everyone is charged to replace their name badge and the building administration is tasked with making sure employees are charged. Committee members noted this was likely because the admins weren’t aware of the policy.. The policy has been in place for at least 2 years per Jeremy White. Dee Hobbs agreed the information needed to be communicated to administrators again so that it is fair and equitable.
  • What is the cost of key replacement?

    • $25 per Jeremy White. The cost barely covers materials. Depending on the type of key that is lost it can cost the district several thousands of dollars to rekey a building

    • Again committee members noted not everyone is charged for lost keys. This should also be addressed
  • What is the protocol to follow on snow days?

    • Report to work late or take a sick or vacation day

  • Discussions regarding changing the Nurses Salary Schedule

    • Damon Donnell is currently reviewing salaries at surrounding districts and how they compare to Springdale.

    • The nurses would like to have years of experience added to the salary schedule and be compensated for years of service that is equal to years of experience.

    • The nurses would also like to be compensated for training required to renew licensure or proposed the district could provide training related to their jobs. (The district provides training on in-service days for teachers so something similar)

    • This topic was tabled. More information is needed

  • Why isn’t there a “Sharing table” for breakfast and lunch (juice, milk, etc.)

    • Many reasons including COVID, germs and USDA regulations.

    • The committee discussed there seems to be misinformation about students being required to take specific items vs “being offered”.

  • Why Pre-K aides have different requirements (30 hours of PD, working toward a Child Development Associate Credential or have college credit hours)

    • The state separates Pre-K from K-12 education and establishes the guidelines to follow for both. (Kelly Hayes)

  • Why do Bus Drivers get an extra $20 for good attendance and the bus aides do not?

    • Bus routes were being canceled on a daily basis due to lack of drivers. The attendance incentive was to encourage drivers to be at work.

  • We need to update PPC bylaws

  • Damon will ask Jill Law if Maribel can be on the calendar committee

  • There will be another Treehouse pantry giveaway for staff.

  • Adjourned 3:38
