Hemmenway Families,

Thank you for such a great turnout for our annual Meet the Teacher evening! It was wonderful to see our Tigers. We can't wait to welcome them back on Wednesday, August 12th. School hours are 8:45 a.m. - 4:05 p.m.

On the first week, we will open the doors at 8:10 a.m. to receive our students. This will allow a few extra minutes to locate classes and get students settled. Only TWO ADULTS are allowed to walk students in on the First Day of School, Wednesday, 8/12. (Younger siblings can walk with their parents as well.) There will be signs and staff located at the front of the campus to guide you to the correct entrance/exit door. When you enter, please drop your student off and immediately leave the classroom, exiting the same door you entered. This allows us to more quickly acclimate our students to the class and start the school year off smoothly. See the information below. Beginning 8/17 doors will open at the normal time, 8:20 a.m.

Please keep safety in mind! Students should never be let out of cars on West Little York for drop-off. Also, the first day of school buses are typically late and car rider lines can be long since students are learning to listen for their numbers to be called. Please expect students to be later than the normal times. PACK YOUR PATIENCE! 😊

• ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL

  • No one should park on school grounds (in parking lots) or stop on West Little York with flashers on to get students from the walker door. You should be walking from the neighborhood.
  • The police have communicated with the campus. We CANNOT block both lanes on West Little York.
  • ALL dismissal changes MUST be made before 3:00 p.m. daily. A note should be sent to hemmenway@cfisd.net with a signature and picture of the parent/guardian's driver's license or government-issued ID.

We hope to see you for Parent Expo on Tuesday, August 25th from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. During Parent Expo, you will learn how to access your child's grades, stay connected using the district's new communication platform, ParentSquare, and learn about the clubs on campus. You will want to be here starting at 5:30 p.m. to experience the full event.

When families get involved at school, students notice. It sends a powerful message: “Your learning matters to me.” There are several ways to participate in your child's learning:

• Talk to your child about what they learn each day
• Come out to our evening events
• Take the Parent Orientation Course to volunteer on campus and attend field trips
• Give feedback on campus surveys
• Complete Family Connection Activities with your child (NEW this school year! - Info to come)

ParentSquare is our new and improved district communication platform. Just like Remind, you are already enrolled in ParentSquare when you register your child in school. It automatically connects to your child's teachers and classes. You will also use this platform to sign-up for lunch visitation. When messages are sent you will receive an email around 6pm. You can receive messages through push notifications by downloading the ParentSquare app to your mobile device. Come learn more about ParentSquare at our upcoming Parent Expo on Tuesday, August 25th from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

We want to celebrate our students who attend school every day!

PK - 1st grade students who attend school every day earn PERFECT ATTENDANCE and participate in a class celebration.

2nd - 5th grade students who attend school every day earn PERFECT ATTENDANCE and participate in the campus Breakfast of Champions celebration.

PK - 5th grade students who are at school ON TIME (8:45am) for the FULL DAY (no early checkouts, except for doctor's appointments --Note from the doctor required. - [Not a parent written excuse note.]) will be entered into a raffle. There will be one winner in PK-1st and one winner in 2nd - 5th.

Celebrate your child’s birthday with a special posting on our School’s Marquee! For just $20, your child will receive a Fun “Happy Birthday shoutout!” The graphic on the Marquee will show for 8 seconds with the student’s first name and last initial as part of the other rotating graphics. It will post the day of their Birthday and remain in rotation for 48 hours. All funds raised go directly to our school!

Go to School Cash to purchase your student’s birthday shoutout by the Wednesday prior to their birthday at 12 noon. The SchoolCash purchase needs to be PRIOR to your child’s Birthday not the day of. We will be able to schedule birthday postings that occur over breaks and over summer when purchased in advance. This will need to be submitted the Wednesday prior to the break or prior to the last day of school. For example, by May 27, 2026, all summer birthday marquee postings should be purchased in SchoolCash. Any entries after Wednesdays at 12:00pm are not guaranteed for timely display. There will be NO REFUNDS for late submission. Dear Parents & Guardians,

A new Texas law (House Bill 1481) requires school districts to prohibit student use of all personal communication devices during the school day. Therefore, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is updating its personal communication device policy.

The use of all personal communication devices is prohibited during the school day. Devices must be turned off and stored in the student’s personal bag or backpack at all times during the school day.

CFISD has created a Personal Communication Devices Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to address some of the implications of this new policy.

You can register to visit your child for lunch on Tuesdays or Fridays. See below to sign-up to enjoy lunch with your student. There are 14 spots per grade level per lunch visitation day. You can sit on the stage with your child. You will be able to register up to 2 visitors per student for no more than 2 lunch visits per month. This ensures more parents have this opportunity with their students.

Here's what to do:

1. Look for the date you will visit.
2. Click to choose your student's grade level.
3. Enter either 1 or 2 for the number of spots.
4. Type in the Notes:
   • Enter your FIRST & LAST NAME
   • The last 4 digits of your driver’s license number
   • Birthdate
5. Repeat step 4 if you have another adult with you to visit.

If there are more than 2 individuals signed up for one student, all sign-ups after the first two will be deleted.
