A Message from Principal Woofter
May has flown by and it is hard to believe that we will be celebrating Memorial Day weekend already!
We are wrapping up our Food Drive! Thank you for generously donating items to share with the Willowbrook Food Pantry to distribute to individuals in need. We are very close to meeting our goal of 650 pounds, so if you would still like to bring in items, we will be taking donations until the end of the day tomorrow.
In addition to several exciting field trips that are going on this week, our third through fifth grade students completed their Math state testing. We are so proud of their hard work and perseverance in finishing these assessments! Even though the school year is winding down, our students and teachers are continuing to engage in learning activities, finish projects, and review the content that they have been working on all year.
Make sure to review information being sent home by our teachers to keep you updated on opportunities and activities taking place in these last few weeks of school!
Kindly,
Sarah
Archer Glen's Food Drive Ends Tomorrow, 5/23!

Nutrition Services - Upcoming Changes to School Milk Options
As part of upcoming updates to federal nutrition standars, the USDA is introducing new regulations that limit the amount of added sugars allowed in school meals. In allignment with these guidelines, our district will be implementing some adjustments to our menus, including updates to our milk offerings beginning next school year.
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, chocolate milk will be offered at lunch on Fridays. ONall other school days, students will contine to have two choices available at both breakfast and lunch : 1% white milk and skim white milk.
These updates are designed to support the health and well-being of all students. To learn more about the USDA's updated nutrition standards, please visit their website at www.fns.usda.gov.

A Legendary Farewell: Bruce Maplethorpe Retires After 53 Years of Service!
After more than five decades behind the wheel, Bruce Maplethorpe, Sherwood School District’s longest-serving employee and beloved bus driver, is taking his final ride. Bruce began his incredible journey in 1972—as a senior in high school—when he was asked to help by picking up students and bringing them to school. That one-time favor turned into a remarkable 53-year career of dedication, care, and community spirit.
Let’s put this into perspective:
750,000+ miles driven – That’s over three times the distance to the moon!
Over 1 million student rides safely delivered to and from school.
A lifetime of commitment to the students and families of Sherwood.
Bruce has truly been the heartbeat of our transportation team, always showing up with a warm smile and unwavering reliability. His legacy is one of kindness, consistency, and quiet heroism.
As he prepares for retirement, we invite you to help us celebrate this living legend! Share your memories, kind words, or fun stories by emailing transport@sherwood.k12.or.us. We’ll make sure Bruce receives every note before his final day on June 10th. Let’s send him off with the love and recognition he so deeply deserves.
