Principal Message Principal Message

Heritage Families,

We've had a wonderful first week of second term, and we're excited for all the great things ahead in the coming weeks!

Earlier this week, we celebrated House Isibindi for earning the most House points during first term! Our Isibindi students enjoyed an extra recess to celebrate their hard work and dedication to leading like Huskies with Heart! As we begin a new term, we encourage all of our Huskies to continue earning House points by demonstrating our school expectations of being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Inclusive. We can't wait to see how the House point standings shake out during second term!

We're also excited for our annual Tat the Teacher fundraiser happening next week! Students will have the opportunity to purchase temporary tattoos or stickers for our staff members to wear next Thursday. Thank you for your continued generosity and support of our school! Our staff is looking forward to sporting some fun "tats" and showing them off to our amazing Huskies!

We hope all of our Husky families have a happy, healthy, and restful weekend!

Halloween Walk - October 30th Halloween Walk - October 30th

We will be starting our Halloween Walk to Sun Ridge Assisted Living at 9:45 am on Friday, October 30th. Parents can enjoy the parade from outside the school and along the roads where we walk. Below is a map of our walking route. Please be sure to follow the costume guidelines so we can continue to enjoy this tradition! Costume Guidelines: Be respectful & Inclusive: Avoid stereotypes. Be racially sensitive and culturally appropriate. Students may not dress up as an ethnic or cultural group (i.e., a Mexican, a Geisha, a Native American, etc.), including fictional characters. Skin color must not be altered in any way. Costumes should be fun and exciting, not political or offensive. Be responsible: Recognize that students in a wide age range will see the costumes. Costumes should be family and little kid friendly. Be safe: No real or pretend weapons are allowed. Costumes may not be gory or threatening. No fake blood is allowed. We also ask that no masks be worn. If your costume blows up, please ensure we can see your face when your costume is fully on! Please help us ensure all students are able to participate by following the expectations. The plan is for students to remain in these costumes throughout the day. We also ask that parent volunteers also abide by these guidleines in their costume choices worn to the school.

VOLUNTEERS AND VISITORS

Parents are always welcome to visit the school, however volunteers must acquire a background per legislative law. Planned visits are best. If you wish to conference with a teacher, please make an appointment. Unscheduled conferences are strongly discouraged as they disrupt the instructional day of all students in the class. Visitors/volunteers must check-in at the office and receive a visitor/volunteer identification badge before proceeding to classrooms. Background checks must be completed through Davis School District and are kept on record as long as a parent is still volunteering at least once a year. Background checks are free of charge, but an appointment needs to be made through our Human Resources department. If a parent arrives to take part in a volunteering opportunity and has failed to complete a background check, the parent will unfortunately not be able to volunteer/participate.
