Junior Model UN
Log College’s Jr. Model UN Club attended their first preparatory conference on March 5th, at Temple University. The goal of Jr. Model UN is to work collaboratively to propose recommendations on solving two of the major world issues from the viewpoint of their assigned nation. Student delegates received badges that included their names, countries (Bangladesh or El Salvador), topics (Access to Clean Water or Reducing Income Inequality), and committee (#1 or #2).
Upon arrival, students were split into small conference rooms based on their badges. Once in the conference rooms, delegates introduced themselves to delegates from other schools, learned conference etiquette, and group norms.
As the morning rolled on, delegates identified the parts of a resolution paper and reviewed sustainable development goals. In addition, delegates practiced creating resolutions using their research and provided Jr. UN Vocabulary.
Delegates will meet a few times to write, revise, and edit their resolutions that they will present at their final conference in May at Temple University.

Boys Basketball
Log College Boys Basketball has enjoyed one of its best seasons in recent memory and capped it off with a victory over Klinger Middle School on Thursday night. Log will be a high seed in the playoffs beginning this week. In what has been a tradition, the boys from Log and Klinger interacted following the game, as many will be teammates as Panthers in the coming years.

200 Club Winners
Congratulations to our most recent 200 Club winners! This round’s lucky recipients include Rebecca R., Megan P., Anthony U., Nathan K., Hannah W., Sitora B., Paige W., Olivia O., and Alan Z. The staff member that gave out the winning ticket was Mrs. Lynes. Again congratulations to all, and remember to Live Safely, Own Responsibility, and Give Respect!
7th Grade English Class
7th Grade English Language Arts classes recently completed their reading of Tangerine, a novel by Edward Bloor, set in late-90s Florida. While reading, they sampled music from the decade, used scheduled reading goals, and discovered that the choices of some of the characters in the novel had a profound impact on the main character. They wrote an analysis essay about just that - how a member of Paul's family had a significant impact on his personality.
After selecting a character to focus their writing, they found evidence that that character changed Paul in some way. They drafted an essay using that evidence and used their classmates' feedback to revise and edit their writing. Peer editing is a valuable process to learn and practice, and our 7th graders undoubtedly benefited from each other's thoughtful comments.
Math with Mrs. Lucas
Seventh and eighth grade students are working on strengthening their math skills by working on iReady MyPath with Mrs Lucas. This week's skill focuses are:
Distributing and factoring expressions via independent practice and small group instruction, and
strengthening fraction operation skills by 1) creating equivalent fractions, 2) converting mixed numbers and improper fractions, and 3) adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with common denominators.

- Girls Soccer
- Two Club Sports (6th Grade students are eligible): Pickleball and Lacrosse (No physical needed for club sports)
PIAA sports physical -
All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2023). The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23 (or you can pick one up from Mr. Corey, our athletic director or any LCMS coaches).
If you have already played a sport in the Fall/Winter, you do not need to complete a new physical, but you must re-submit section 7 (Re-certification by parent/guardian) from the PIAA physical form. This page does not require seeing a doctor or medical provider.
If you did not submit a PIAA physical in the Fall/Winter, you must complete Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet. This must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8.
If you cannot find an appointment time with your doctor, you may use another provider or visit a CVS Minute Clinic or visit an Urgent Care center. The Centennial School District has a partnership with Liberty Urgent Care:
If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD, your physical will only cost $20. (Locations listed below)
