MAP results were sent home via email directly from the District today. If you do not receive them by Sunday, please reach out to Mrs Hamilton or Mrs Dunning in the office on Monday morning.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and Make-a-Wish at Photo's on Wednesday! It was so wonderful to see so many familiar faces! I hope you enjoyed sharing your dinner with us and having your ice cream and orders served by staff. I am ecstatic to share that we raised a record breaking $1,143.75!!! This is incredible and I am so thankful for your generosity!

It is hard to believe that we are less than one week away from our Make-a-Wish Walkathon next THURSDAY, MAY 14th! We are counting down the days to this special event, and all fingers and toes are crossed that the sun will be shining on us as we walk. Please remember all students need to be accompanied by an adult. Please wear your walking shoes because we are incorporating something new that we think will motivate the students to walk extra laps. You can count this as your workout for the day!

The "501st Legion" helped get us in the mood for the Walkathon by welcoming students to school on Monday! Students were encouraged to donate to their preferred "side" and the "dark side" just won out with a total of $178 raised! The light side was not too far behind, however, and raised an amazing $152. The true winner, however, really was the Make-A-Wish Foundation and I am delighted that we are going to be able to add $330 to the total next week. Thank you to Mr. Morkert, Mrs. Koenig, and Mrs. Vincent for organizing this for Patton.

For more information about the Walkathon and to see how you can donate, please click HERE .

Don't forget to wear your Walkathon T-Shirts next Thursday, May 14th!

This week was "Teacher Appreciation Week" and we felt the outpouring of love!

From the amazing coffee and baked goods on Monday to the Apple Bar on Tuesday, the Chipotle lunch on Wednesday, the Candy Bar on Thursday and the Gift Card giveaway on Friday, our amazing PTA spoiled us and made us feel so appreciated all week! We are so grateful for all the thought and effort that went into making this week so fun and special. The board game theme was perfect!

Wednesday was also "School Nurse Appreciation Day" and I wanted to take a moment to thank our amazing Nurses, Sarah Klancnik and Kim Bolanos for all they do for us and our students! Their care and attention is appreciated every day and we are grateful to have them here at Patton!

We couldn't have asked for better weather for our National Bike and Roll to School Day on Wednesday! It was the best start to the day with the Hersey Softball team and our Patton Spirit Squad welcoming students, along with the local Fire and Police departments!

I am always so happy to see the bike racks full and students taking in the fresh air as they get ready to start their days!

Thank you to traffic team leaders, Chris Fries and Tracy Boyd, for organizing this for us and for all they do daily to keep our students safe! Thank you to also to all the parent volunteers who support our car lines in the morning and afternoon.

We are excited to announce our 19th Annual Patton Elementary School Walkathon, benefiting Make-A-Wish Illinois! This special event will take place on Thursday, May 14 from 4:00–5:15 PM and is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, have fun, and support an incredible cause.

We are reaching out to ask for your help in making this event a success by connecting us with business sponsors and/or donated items.

Business Sponsorships
If you own a business or know of a local business that may be interested in supporting our Walkathon, we would love to partner with them! Sponsorships help us maximize the impact of our fundraiser and bring us closer to granting wishes for children in need.

Donations for the Event
We are also looking for donations to make the event extra special for our students. Some ideas include:

  • Bounce houses
  • Bubbles
  • Small prizes or giveaways
  • Snacks or refreshments
  • Any fun, family-friendly activity items

If you are able to contribute, know a business that would like to sponsor, or have items to donate, please reach out to us. Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference!

Please contact:

Stephanie Koenig: skoenig@sd25.org

Amanda Vincent: avincent@sd25.org

Thank you for your continued support and generosity. Together, we can help make wishes come true for children through Make-A-Wish Illinois.

Warm regards,
Patton Walkathon Committee

Excusing Children from PE - Physical Education

Parents may request that their child be excused from Physical Education for one day due to a medical reason. Any absence beyond one day requires a physician’s note.

For elementary students, physician orders must clearly state any restrictions for both Physical Education and Recess. Students who are unable to participate in Physical Education may not participate in school-sponsored sports clubs during that time.

Excusing Children from Outdoor Activities / Recess

Elementary students regularly participate in outdoor activities during Physical Education classes, daily recess, and the lunch period. For the safety of all students, children are expected to go outside during these times unless there is a documented medical reason. If your child needs to remain indoors, a physician’s note is required that specifically states the outdoor restriction.

After School Activities and Events

Students absent from classes on the day of an extracurricular event may not be allowed to participate in that day’s activities or event. Prior planning by parents and school helps eliminate any such conflicts.
