Important Documents: Keep copies of important documents (e.g., passports, birth certificates, medical records) in a safe and accessible place. Consider storing digital copies securely online.
Delegation of Parental Authority (DOPA): A DOPA is a document that allows you to designate someone to take care of your children if you are unable to do so. This person, called an "Attorney-in-Fact," can make decisions about your child's care, custody, and property. The DOPA is effective as soon as it is signed and notarized and lasts for up to one year.

Individuals and Societies-6th grade
In Individuals and Societies, 6th graders are finishing up our unit about indigenous peoples in the state of MN. We learned a lot about the people who were here in MN first like the Ojibwe and Dakota. We also learned about their origin stories and how they first arrived in MN. Students learned about Native interactions with settlers and how events in the past still affect them today.
In 8th grade, students are learning about Africa which is the cradle of human civilization. Currently, students are focusing on Northwest Africa, which is known as the Maghreb, which means โplace where the sun setsโ or โWestโ in Arabic. Students are also reading A Long Walk to Water which focuses on the harrowing journey of two separate children in South Sudan set in two different time periods.
Anthony Choir News
Hello Panther Families!
Students in choir have been very busy these past few weeks preparing for our winter concert!
The winter choir concert will take place on Tuesday, December 16th in the Anthony auditorium. The 6th grade choir will perform at 5:30pm and the 7/8th grade choir will perform at 7:00pm.
We've titled this concert "As Fall Turns to Winter" because students will be performing musical selections about the change in seasons and some seasonal holidays that occur in the fall and in winter.
Admission is free, so please come support the arts in our community!

Bus Zone + Pick Up Info
Avoid Bus Zones: Parents and Guardians, please keep in mind that we have 8 buses and several smaller transportation vehicles coming and going on Irving before and after school. Use the suggested parent pick up areas to avoid congestion as our buses need to be able to get through on Irving Avenue.
Parent Pick-Up: If your student is waiting for you to pick them up after school, please have them wait in the vestibule area at DOOR 3. We ask that students be picked up by 3:30pm as we do not have supervision for students waiting for rides. Students may not be roaming the building.
Thank you!

Attendance: How To
Parents and Guardians, we encourage you to report an absence of any kind using the Anthony Attendance Form. This form helps us keep quick and accurate records of your student's absences as reported by a legal guardian. You may also continue to send written notes with your student if you prefer that method. We strive to have documentation for each absence whenever possible.
Once you have filled out the form or written a note, tell your student to come to the Main Office and we will issue a green pass. This process: builds independence, reduces classroom disruptions, and ensures your student is ready for pick up in a timely manner. A parent will not have to come into the school to sign the student out if they have a leave early pass.
For more on the full attendance policy, including excusedโ versus unexcusedโ absence categories, see our Anthony Handbook.
You may reach out to Julie.Robertson@mpls.k12.mn.us, Office Assistant, for more details 612-668-3240. Website Contact - Anthony Middle School.
