JackrabbitsNewsletterBuilding on our Success January 2nd - 6th

Week #1 of Marking Period 3

Happy New Year, Jackrabbits!

I hope this newsletter finds you in excellent health and high spirits. I am eager to welcome back our students to this new calendar year. As we step into 2024, we press on in building the learning environment that we want and know what's best academically for our scholars and entire learning community. Our faculty and staff will be planning out the next nine weeks of instruction as we work together to bring our students best practices in teaching and acquiring knowledge.

Collectively, we are most excited about seeing our students back on campus this Thursday, Jan. 4th. Staff development begins for teachers on Tuesday and continues into Wednesday to provide us this opportunity to prepare for the third marking period. Let's take advantage of the forty-one instructional days available before the spring intersession. Focus is equally important for student attendance and punctuality. We appreciated your continued partnership.

University Interscholastic League, UIL practice for our students resumes soon. Parents, please check with your child's UIL coach for practice dates and times. In addition and in support of students requiring attendance make up, we will be offering Saturday Camp on Jan. 20th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Keep in mind that for students who have already reached possible loss of credit, this Saturday camp on the 20th will be mandatory. Know that we are here to support you and answer any of your concerns. 2024 will be a great year!

After school tutoring and possible Loss of Credit resume on Jan. 16th right after Dr. Martin King Jr. Holiday. Transportation for tutoring will not be provided.

Best of luck to our scholars who will be competing at the district's Robocom 10.0 at Pebble Hill HS this Saturday, Jan. 6th. Thanks to our coordinator, Ms. Fresquez for guiding and leading our students to the event for the second year! Building on our Success.

Thank you for entrusting our team with serving your child(ren).

At your service,

Fernando L. Miranda

School Principal

We have received several calls regarding PK3/PK4 Compulsory Attendance. Below is some clarification:

  • Compulsory Attendance applies to ALL students upon enrollment regardless of age, please see snip of FEA(legal) below. This policy is tied to truancy therefore, if the student has 10 or more unexcused absences during a 6 month period, the parent is subject to a referral to truancy court.

We are entering the lowest months for good attendance due to upper respiratory infections and flu like symptoms. Please send healthy students to school daily.

Friendly Reminder: All students from Pre-Kinder through Fifth Grades are held accountable to state compulsory attendance rules. Although pre-k and kindergarten are not mandated by the state of Texas, once enrolled in school, parents are held accountable for their child's daily attendance. Both excused and unexcused absences are still seen as days out of school. All students are responsible to make up lost instructional times. Let us know if there are any questions or concerns. We are here to assist you!

Thanks to TXDOT for providing gifts to our students.

Scholars felt the joy and kindness of our community partners as they opened gifts with gratitude. School counselor, Mrs. Castillo helped to make this possible.
