Dual Credit courses are offered at LHS Main Campus or at the NCTC campus. Students will receive college credit with a passing grade in the course. Dual Credit courses have the same GPA weight as AP courses (1.2 multiplier).

How Much Does Dual Credit Cost?

Dual Credit saves money! For 3 hours of college credit, the cost is $165. This saves 50 - 75% off the price of the same course at a 4 year university. The only additional cost is for textbooks (online/book). Scholarships are offered for Dual Credit students during certain windows of time. If a student is eligible for free or reduced lunch, they do not have to pay tuition. Students with free or reduced lunch qualify for a tuition waiver.

Steps To Enroll For Dual Credit Courses Steps To Enroll For Dual Credit Courses

  1. Request the course in skyward during registration for the upcoming school year
  2. Meet qualification requirements
  3. Complete the Apply Texas Application

Step 1 - Request the Course in Skyward

Students who are considering taking a dual credit course should request the course in Skyward during course registration. This lets the counselors know that the student is interested in dual credit and will start the application process. This request can be changed to a regular class, at a later time, if the student decides not to proceed in dual credit or does not meet eligibility qualifications.

Students interested in taking dual credit during the summer will also indicate this by requesting the summer course in Skyward.

Step 2 - Meet Qualification Requirements

All Dual Credit students must demonstrate college readiness by achieving minimum passing standards on relevant sections of the TSIA2. The TSI includes 2 sections: Reading/Writing and Math. The Dual Credit course you plan to take will determine which sections of the TSI you will have to complete.

TSI Score Needed:

945 -990 demonstrates college readiness, student will be directed to complete the Essay and must score 5-8 to qualify

910-944 does not demonstrate college readiness but the student has a second chance of demonstrating college readiness by completing the Diagnostics. The student must earn a score of 5-6 on the Diagnostics to move on to the Essay. The student must earn a 5-8 on the Essay to qualify.
